it seems like it makes good power and all, But on the downside they are still iron heads which are heavy and will still run hotter than aluminium. But for the Price they are pretty hard to beat.
I like the heads. They have the vortec style heart combustion chamber, and use a regular intake manifold. They have less cc's than do 305 heads, combined with 350 sized valves and ports. Bolt those suckers on a stock 350, and up goes your compression about a point or more.
$500 for the two heads, and another $220 or so in valves, springs, and retainers, and that's a heck of a deal.

That's what I was thinking. Get a late model 350 add these heads, the cam, intake and the carb and you've got 470 hp for very little money.
I think most of the magazines feel that they have to delve into the short block for blame reasons. So people don't build a worn out engine with loose tolerances for more power, blow it up, then complain about how crappy of a setup it was.
Bad press and all. Magazines sell by reputation.
