View Full Version : amp shuts off
I have a legacy 2400 watt amp. it has the remote bass boost when ever I turn the bass all the way up it just shuts off. it was working fine a few days ago. even if I turn down the bass adjust on the radio it still shuts off when I turn the remote bass boost up. it comes right back on as soon as i start to turn it back down. I just dont get it anyone have any ideas?
sounds like it's kicking the protection circut or some kinda thermal overload thingy.. Check you wiring and grounds. make sure your subs can handle what you giveing them and they are busted.

How many subs do you have hooked up to it and how are they wired?

i have this same problem actually.... one day i turned my stereo up and my amp quit. I checked it out... started the car and looked at the amps power light while i turned on the radio.. It would come on but slowely fade and stay faded. This was just a random happening also. It works if i keep my radio under 2... but i usually listen to it on 9 so its hard to here on 2. i checked my ground... power... and everything else but cant find it. The week after x-mas i am going to tear my stereo out of my dash to check the hookups back there. Its pissing me off cuz its worked fine until this.

i had the problem and it ended up being a blown sub
I have only one sub hooked up to it. and it still shuts off even if if the volume is real low. the little box for the remote bass boost has a power light on it and when I turn it up and the amp shuts off the little light goes dim.

The protection circut will kick your amp off if it draws a lot of power. Try pressing the gas when you turn it up.
the protection light does not come on
how many ohms is the sub and do you have it monoed or stereo?
I have one sub with dual voice coils. 2 ohms per voice coil. the amps not bridged and is 2 ohm stable.
hum......... you say the amp isn't bridged.
let me ask someone some quetions before replying to this.
also what guage power and ground wire or you running ?

means the amp is sucking to much power so it turns itself off so it doesn't burn up...i had a jensen that did that and then it just blew up along with my sub..
hey I found the problem this is the second legacy amp i have put in the truck and i took the old one out but i just used the bass boost box from the old one. so i just tried using the one that came with this amp and it works fine. thanks for your help I hate when it stupid sh@t
