I am looking for a flush mount Tonneau cover for my Sonoma. Its a stepside, and I want a one piece hard tonneau that sits flush with the tops of the bed rails. Does anyone know a manufacturer of such a thing??

Ther only totally flush one is made by CheckerPro and is called a Checkmate. They dont overlap the tailgat e, so if you get the locking one its useless unless you get a tailgate handle lock. Ive heard people been pleased with them, They come black but Ive seen people paint them body color. They do have some optioins. And I think they are on sale right now. Another drawback if its a concern, is they dont seal up to make the bed totally waterproof. Tommy (T-Man) has one on his 1st Gen S10.
The only other fiberglass low-profile options are SnugLid (3 models), Gaylords (2 models) and LoRider. The S-series bed isnt symetrical. Its wider at the front and seems like covers are limited to find for them. The JackRabbit, PaceEdwards and Roll-N-Lock retreactables are flush but the bed design makes those unavailible. The rest of the covers like ARE, Leer and etc, are the ones that sit on top. Personally I like the SnugLid and Gaylords or the Checkmate. From experiecnce of a local fellow S-10er, the SnugLid is watertight and well made. They are $$$$ and since they only make them in California now (used to have a plant in Indiana), shipping to the EastCoast is expensive.

Im in the Midwest. I want a Fiberglass one. Ive thought of the A.R.E. But I would like flush mount. I dont want a soft tonneau. I hard a one piece that raises on gas filled shocks.

Actually, they come in white too. I want one really bad, but I dont have $539 right now....

I think the Checkmates are on sale right now for under $500.
DMP, youre right. I forgot they come in white as well.
BK : The only true flush is the Checkmate from what Ive seen. Plus its the least expensive. They arent 100% watersealed from what Ive heard and seen and will require a tailgate lock or handle relocation for locking people out of the bed. Gaylords and SnugLid are the best and most flush normal-style lids. ARE and Leer sit on top.
I know there are alot of makers out there and some fit nice and others look like they just belong on something else. I saw a stepside Xtreme here the other day and the guy had one that looked like a snuglid but it had a lip on the back edge like a lil spoiler. Just enough to notice but not too big. I pulled up and asked him what kind it was since there wasnt a name on it. He said he didnt know but he got it down south (Florida). So there are a bunch of brands you can find and some not on the net. I would try to lookup topper businesses around you and see if they have an online site with a brand list. Then try to get some info.

Well Im relocating the handle so that isnt a problem. The water tight situation I can handle, plus Im thinking of making a custom ducktail type extension on my tailgate. Like a low profile spoiler.

UPS & FedEx ship freight.. all you'd need to do is box it up. I'm sure they could do it over at Kinkos or someplace like that for ya.

hey!!! HH!!! you still interested in a checkmate bed cover? pm me is interested. i am considering selling mine to get a different brand...
I picked up my checkmate with locks for around 575 after delevery and LOVE it. Its great, supports a good deal of weight. (Like me and someone else) The factory seals they send suck, but upgrading them isnt much of a challenge. I would definately DEFINATELY recommend one

My Dad had a Checkmate on his Sport Side Silvy for years. Some how or another it started sucking up water like a sponge, it started out weighing almost nothing just before he junked it it must've gained 50 lbs. Not saying anything other than be aware and maybe think of a solution to prevent it. It looked great though, it was a little tough toget smooth for painting took some high build primer and a bunch block sanding I remember I painted it....
