I have a PioneerDEH-P4300 in my S10.It's a great head unit ive owned about 3 years now.Anyway it says XM ready on it but I can't for the life of me figure out what would be needed to hook XM up to it.Does it tune through the player or do you have to get all the equipment for a non XM ready player.I just can't sem to find the info to get XM for it.The source button switches from CD to the radio and it also has a auxillary option. Here is what it looks like.If anyone can help me out I would appreciate it.I want to get XM in my S10 because it is my daily driver and I listen to the radio a lot.But it's hard to pick up any channels here because of all the mountains and hills around here.http://www.sicgmtrucks.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=417&stc=1
i thought when they said XM ready you didn't need the XM tunner. I know for sure is your going to need the satalite antenna.
have you tryed the pioneer site to see what you need.

That's what I was wanting to know is if the head unit tuner will tune XM stations or if I need a seperate tuner and what else I would need.It didn't really go in detail about it just that it was XM ready.

ALRIGHT!!!!! FINALLY!!!! This is my department at Best Buy, ok what you need is the Pioneer XM adapter and the Universal XM Tuner, they are 2 little blak boxes you can put under the seats, behind the dash or wherever your little heart desires, they are made by terk. Then you can use the XM feature on your Pioneer Head Unit. Here is the Pioneer part that attaches to the deck and the universal tuner: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id=1089889502754&skuId=6777909&type=product
and the universal tuner that is needed to hook it to the satillite antenna : http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id=1083710277061&skuId=6670523&type=product
That is all you need, Proud to be your friend,

What does XM Ready mean?
XM Ready means that the radio can be upgraded to receive XM programming and that your radio is fully compatible with the XM tuner module needed to receive the XM Radio service.
What is required to upgrade to XM?
In order for an XM Ready radio to receive XM programming, you will need a XM Ready radio, a tuner box and an antenna. Cassette Adaptor and FM-modulated units are available and will work with your existing car or home stereo. The tuner box enables the radio to receive and transmit the XM signal. The antenna needs to be installed or mounted on the outside of the automobile where it will have the maximum exposure to the sky.
Are there different antennas available?
There are several antenna configurations available to receive the XM signal. These configurations include a glass-mounted antenna, a roof-mounted antenna, and a magnet-mounted antenna. The customer can select the type of antenna that they want; however some radios come standard with certain antenna configurations. Additional antenna configurations may need to be purchased separatel
