I've been bored for the last few days so I fabbed up a cover for the fuse box and ABS pump thingy. This was inspired by Black-X's truck on the other forum - he has seperate stainless covers for the fuse box and ABS. I can't find pics right now but I'll post them up if I do.

I made it out of 28 gauge sheet metal and some aluminum stock, ~$10 total. It bolts on to the ABS fender bracket with the small tab on the side and to the inner fender with the longer piece of aluminum and some sheet metal screws.

It's alot of empty surface area so I may mount my meth-injection controller on it near the back and a mechanical fuel pressure gauge between the fuse box and pump. If I do that I'll lose the center strip of aluminum but I haven't really thought about the best way to do any of that yet!

what I have so far - it's not bolted down in this pic so it's a little crooked.

I plan on painting everything black and then have lines of stainless screws or rivits attaching the aluminum strips (they'll be black too). I still need to finish off the front edge before I paint it. I'm not sold on any of it yet so I may not even use it but it kept me occupied for a few hours!

I'm a total rookie at this so if anyone has any suggestions on how to improve it I'm all ears!

I beleive you have the right idea, just jive it some more form to make it more pleasing to the eye. Also try losing the center strip and polishing the aluminum. Make it eye candy.
Just my 2 cents.

Looks good. What did you use to bend it?

i used a bench vise and sheet-metal pliers. it takes some time to get the edges to look right but it works. I bought the straight and 90 degree aluminum strips as is

I never thought of doing something like that. I need to look is there much room abouve that to use it as a mounting surface?

Seen the guys modifying the LSx covers to go on the 4.3 yet? Use like the VortecMAX and Caddy covers, paint them to match and putting them on. Looks cool for show I guess.

thats what you shoulda done, painted it your body color. that with the polished straps would have looked good.

I'm still not sure what I'm going to do with it, I mostly did it because I was bored over the holidays.

I think it looks too long as it is. it'd be a tight fit for my meth controller at the back but that would break up the empty space and make it more interesting.

engine covers do look cool on some trucks but I like my big mess of shiney supercharger piping too much to cover it up :D

this is pick that give me the cover idea

Big time props for the tools you used!! I would have got mad and beat it to death, or made somthing to make the bends.

I got a sheet metal brake.... Used it to make my e-fan shroud.

I'm sure it would have been much cleaner/easier with a proper brake but it wasn't that hard anyway. thanks for the props!
