I lifted the back of my truck with shackles which lifted it about 1.5", but the front of my truck still sits higher, and the only other thing I can think of doing is adding some add-a-leafs. I tried to make taller shackles but it only lifted it about .25" so I am thinking about add-a-leafs, and what my question is, how do the work? Do they lift the truck a lot? If I run them should I use the short leafs or the long leafs? and last where is the best place to buy them from?
thanks
~Kenny

all i can tell you is what they do. they introduce a higher spring rate, usually in the form of more arch.

what the hell does that mean? in english please

either way, I might just go ahead with a 6" lift when the military pays me and lets me stay home for awhile.

trying to figure out some more info about your truck, i looked at your profile. is it a zr2 package? it is 4wd, right? how much did you crank up the tbars w/ the superlift kit? was it level before the kit?

they make your springs stiffer and make them curve more, which raises the vehicle slightly.

They're Tits for hauling heavy loads on an s10

the truck will ride like ass without a load in it though. all of my dad's work trucks had add-a-leafs and they were almost unbearable with nothing in the back. you'll lose a significant amount of articulation/flex on the rear axle if you add more leafs

so whats a good Idea? new leaf pack?

blocks

(and maybe after market springs with more arch) = higher ride height

I haven't looked into lifting an s-series but spring-over axle conversions are popular on other rigs. the axle is on the wrong side of the leafs for blocks to work for a lift but moving the axle to the other side is usually good for 3-4" of lift on other rigs. that would keep the right spring rate too.

why not a different shackle?

you can also get things that lower the front of the spring.

Hey Donahue, I saw a bunch of CAD like that ^ pic in you gallery. Do you make parts? What software do you use?

Uhhh....No. Blocks will LOWER it.......

IIrc, 4x4 had the axles below the springs, and if they dont, than you disconnect the springs and put the axle below them. Not hard.

so yes, blocks will lift a truck

the axles are in the same position on all of them. 4x4 or not. i think its messed up, but whatever. its not hard to do the conversion, but theres more to it than just flipping it. you have to get new axle mount brackets, take the axle out, you can either drop leaves and all, easy way, or disconnect everything, vent, e-brake, all that good stuff...anyway. re-attatch the leaves, jack the axle under it, mark where the new brackets need to be, and weld the new brackets to the axle...not hard...time consuming.

Hey Donahue, I saw a bunch of CAD like that ^ pic in you gallery. Do you make parts? What software do you use?yeah, im starting a business making fab parts for 4x4s. that part is going to be in a bolt on sfa kit for an s10. i use solidworks.
