from summit youll need to order
x2 SUM-XMAX10 (http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=SUM%2DXMAX10&N=700+0&autoview=sku)
x2 SUM-XMAXL10 (http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=SUM%2DXMAXL10&N=700+0&autoview=sku)
if your springs have a 2" OD spring eye, regular s10 leafs, beltecs, hotchkis ETC. you need
x1 ENS-3-2129G (http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=ENS%2D3%2D2129G&N=700+0&autoview=sku)
if you have the 2.5" OD front spring eye, ZQ8 spring. you need
x1 ENS-3-2142G (http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=ENS%2D3%2D2142G&N=700+0&autoview=sku)
if summit is out of stock on the bushings order them from autozone. they can usually have them in 3-5 days. if you would rather have red busings instead of black replace the G with a R.
if you want teflon lined heims add a T to the end of the part #
you will need to slightly modify the front spring eye bushings. they need to be trimmed to 2.5" wide(same width as spring). a sharp knife and soap cuts them like butter. sorry no pics at this time
if you are using the ZQ8 bushings you will need to drill the 3/4" hole on my front plates to 7/8" due to the larger OD sleave energy suspension supplies.
i am considering making delron front spring eye bushings as an option and would eliminate the need for the energy suspension bushings. that would be months down the road though.
*EDIT* - contact info added.
I cant remember all my log in stuff.
Have him send a email to Badaszbowtie@yahoo.com

So let me get this straight.. $175 shipped but I need to scrounge around & pay out an extra $120/150+ to complete the kit? That's about $300-330+ w/ additional work to finish. Competition Engineering sells their Slide-a-links made for S trucks for about $400 from summit.. If this was a complete kit out the door I'd be willing to pay between $215-275.. but I guess that's just me. Don't get me wrong, I'm not rippin on your kit. I think it looks great & everything... just a little pricey for what's there, IMO.

im not sure what you mean by scrounging. i gave all the part#s needed. im doing it this way for a couple reasons
it gives you, the customer, the option of finishing these off exatly how you want them. im suppling the parts MOST people cant make in their own garage.
some guys want the standard heim joints, some guys want the teflon lined heims.
some guys want red poly bushings, some guys want black poly bushings.
some guys even already have the poly bushings
some guys want powder coating some guys want just plain ol paint or somthing color matched to their truck.
me sending these just the way they are gives you, the customer, more options of finishing them EXACTLY the way you want them.
lastly i live in ohio, same state as summit, that means i get charged sales tax on the bushings and heims. i then have to pass along that expense to you, the customer.

Point taken .. I just feel it's an incomplete kit & should cost less than what you're asking. But, that's your choice on what to ask, not mine. Again, it looks good & good luck selling them.

would the traction bars help out with some wheel hop....
firefighter
06-01-08, 12:36 PM
Yes they would help eliminate wheel hop.

Are you planning on a wheel/tire change? If so wide rear tires will help eliminate all wheel spin no wheel spin = no wheel hop. I just recently got my Blazer ('03 Xtreme) back to tire spinning stats but I am running 285/40-18 in the back. If you have wheels and tires planned get them first and worry about axel wrap later.

My thoughts also.

The trick with these is that they are way stronger and you make them exactly how you want. But yeah they can get pricey. Nobody ever said going fast was cheap. lol

well right now i have 235/60/16 which arent so wide but theyre directional tires and it does help out on traction even when its raining....but i went to the track and got some real bad wheel hop...the first run was pure spinning and the second had some real bad wheel hop...but maybe some 40 dollar traction bars would help out dont you think so

Well like I said if you are planning on wheels and even beter a posi these barges we drive will have trouble spinning the tires in mostly stock form. I run about 12" of tire on each side with a Zexel posi and until my last few mods couldn't get the tires to spin unless it was raining. Now I can smoke them but not with alot of authority. I have plans that are gonna change that though.

I would say first thing to do is to get a posi rear. I assume you don't have one and if you do it's a G80 which is not the same. See if you can find a used Zexel on e-bay do a search under Camaro too, it has the same rear you will get more hits.

How much are the CalTracs? I found another brand and got an e-mail on the price. Should compare them.

339.00 + 23.00 shipping, for the Caltracs, is there another brand out there other than Slide A Link?
I was hoping to buy a set of the DIY way, but I really don't want to have to wait too long.
True the Caltracs are some what more, but once you recieve them, install them and not have to order other parts.
I really don't have the tools and or equipment to make my own.So I don't know which is worst of the 2 evils.

Here ya go. Dick Miller Racing. They do alot of old Pontiac big bodies and I noticed in an old HighPerfPontiac mag an ad for them and it listed the S10 trac bars.
I e-mailed them. They were $399.00 so it looks like CTs are cheaper.
Link : http://www.dickmillerracing.com/Suspen3_page.htm
I also e-mailed Spohn about them making a set to add to their expanding s-series products. They said this :
We've had others ask for them as well, we're going to put them on the R&D list. Thanks.
Steve
So thats that. IDK hoe much they would be. A requested a comptitively priced alternative in my e-mail to them. Plus I am familiar with their product quality. I have LCA's, LCA Relocation Brackets, HD TieRod Adjusters and a D.Shaft Loop on my TransAm. Top quality stuff!!

Wooohooo Got an email from him, now were railroad-n
Wow Dick Miller wants like 415.00 for his why too high for me.
It figures out that these Traction bars, versus Caltracs your saving about 50 -60 bucks.

I got the traction bars today, and I have to say, this guy is good, welds are excellent, so if anyone is considering a set of these, I highly recommend them. They are as good if not better, I think, than the high dollar Caltrac and others.
