Has anyone made them self a custom muffler to run on their pickup. I am getting ready to put one together and I was gonna see if their were some clips or ideas out there. I figure this is the only way to give an s-10 a custom sound......

If you do this take pics and post it in fabrication.

Sounds like a cool idea and that's how the Flowmaster guy started out.

Go for it, I suggest a chambered muff or resonator design for tone. I wouldn't deal with packing material.

This is how Flowmaster was started, a dude making mufflers in his garage

to help protect it from rust just see if you can get some high heat paint or powder coating ...

I thought bout hittn it with some engine paint, but ill let this one go its the first one, today im gonna get my pipes hooked up. I will put a clip up as soon as that happens. I might not put a different muffler on the truck ever again. I really like the way it sounds!!

I had a 69 GMC c10 that I completely made a custom exhaust from the header caps back including the custom built muffler and custom aluminum tips. it sounded pretty good too. The muffler was made from a square shaped, thin gauge metal cover I got at work. It was about 4 inches by 4 inches square and about 6 or 8 inches long. I made it 2 chambered but not like a flowmaster. I only cranked it up in the yard as I was building the truck but it never seen any streets, I wound up taking it a different route, never even burnt the paint off them. I had them in the back of the truck one day while stopping at a car lot and a guy walked up to me and asked if I wanted to sell them and I just said " sure $20" and he bought them! didn't cost me anything but some time to make them.

haha I have no idea how to make the chambers. Im not into mufflers I like glasspacks. My custom SS muffler might be a doozy when I get it all tigged up and welded on lol.

Nice, nice, like I said im really happy with the way this sounds. Its very aggressive and dont hardly seem to rice out some how, sounds really good IMO. I wish I could hear it with some headers then i think it would sound crazy!

Thanks! but it really does have a much better sound than that. Its not as pingy as that sounds. It sounds the best just driving through town, closest to an 8 than ive ever heard.
