I sectioned a 2005 Silverado HD hood, and skinned it, now im putting the raised center of the HD hood on an S10 hood. So far so good. Looks pretty cool, and definetly unique. Im going to make it functional with new frame work underneath. It might end up in the for sale section when im done too, its hard to say. This is what happens when you work in a body shop and have way too many ideas going through your head and free parts to use at your disposal haha.

After cutting the skin, the center "raised" section was still obviously huge compared to our hoods. I sectioned 15" out of the center of the skin. I will post more pics when I get my camera out of my toolbox. The passenger side is fit, and molded, now for the drivers side.

Was the HD hood composite or steel?
Looks good and a good idea. I know alot of Sonoma guys want a cowl or SS hood dased off the orig Noma hood. N o one makes those

very interesting. I'm guessing a good HD hood from the yard would cost a couple hundred bucks? Just thinking that it would be costly if you actually had to buy the parts.

The hood was steel yes. Yeah it would cost a few hundred most likely, but this one was pretty banged up. Not only am I gonna have to hassle with fusor to bond the metal, but I have quite a few dents to take care of on just the skin.
On another note, I can paint it any color I want....lol.

Freakin cool idea bro..whats the progress of it now?

The passenger side is all fit and clamped, I need to trim it alittle still. The driver side needs to be sat on, molded with hammer and dolly and clamped down then trimmed. Then its on to bonding the metal. Its alittle slow right now. Ive got stuff flying at me left and right. People like to wreck lol. I'll get some pics of what the passenger side looks like clamped on. Its about 2-2 1/2" taller where the HD Section will sit.
How's this hood goin? I'm excited to see the final result

Slow. Thats how its going. Im busy as hell at work. Got everything I need to finish it, I just gotta take some time to work on it. Passenger side is complete, just needs some trimming and hammer and dolly work to form the driver side.

I will get some recent pics of the metal bonding process and test fitment of the panels. I need to make a support structure for the underside too. I sold my truck as of tomorrow. Sad sad day I love the thing to death but it was costing me so I bought a car and sadly cant afford both. The truck needed some mechanical attention I couldnt provide without a decent loan and I got a good price out of it.

Sorry guys, been busy as hell. We had a hella hail storm come through and wiped out everything. My car was in a shed lol. We've been fixing cars left and right, Ive put in more windshields and backglasses than I can count to without getting lost. Its sitting in the shop I just need time to work on it. I dont have many more progress pics because of the standstill. But its half mocked anyway.
I love it! Makes me want to see it on my Samurai. I've been wanting a way to vent the cpi v6 stuffed in there. There is a fiberglass cowl hood for it but it doesn't have "the look". Great job! Here you can see my dilema. I don't want the ricer look but the factory look doesn't do it.

why dont you get the hood design patented once you get it finalized? just an idea and you could prolly make hella bucks off of it if it looks good.

I could try and yeah it would be worth it. Im going to be working on it this week and should have the topside done, so I can cut the S10 hood and make the framework for the underside. I think I'll just primer black it, or paint it the color specified of the buyer. I sold my truck so I have no use for it. Its going to look pretty cool. Pics to follow this week.

so r ya tryin to go with this look but wider?
Black Knight

Yes and minus the ram air vents. It will be about 2-3"wider on each side, and stretch all the way to the front.

You should take that to a aftermarket parts MFG and have them put it into production, after you are done with it, that is.

Yeah, that would be after I get it done and test fit. I would like to make a full underside frame so it looks like a real cowl, not just a big cowl glued over a hood. Production is at a standstill. I no longer work in that Body Shop anymore. Somehow or other I quit, so my boss says. Ive since moved to a bigger city and hopefully this winter this thing will be fully completed and either sold or kept and i'll make another.
Im at a loss right now really. I want this to get done, but I dont have ways of finishing it at the moment. I know Ive taken my time for the most part finishing it, but I want it done right the first time. If anyone has ways of contacting or getting ahold of some company that would possibly be interested in the design let me know. Im trying to concentrate all my efforts into getting back into a shop and finishing my projects sooner than later.
Thanks for the patience guys, and I would love to see this on an S

I really like this idea. Good luck with it. it might look semi stock but it wont be and for any motor swap you will have plenty of upper clearance.
