My ball joints are bout ready to go. Ive never changed them before but I know I can no prob, just want to know what im in for, and to expect. I just cant afford to have it done right now Ive got a 2002 4x4 4.3. I havent looked yet, also would like to know if the uppers or lowers are rivited in from the factory.

Dude ball joints are a bank robbery about to happen. Try getting a good used pair with low mile if possible. Oh and make damn shur that the truck it came off of dose not have front end dammage. I made that mistake. My machanic use parts off a truck that got me payin dearly.

Most of the time its better to go new and even more better to go back with factory new (usually more expensive).:D

a lot of aftermarket parts actually are better because they adress the wear problems that the factory parts have. TRW and moog both offer problem solver parts for this very purpose. Used suspension parts are a bad gamble at best, you cant tell what kind of wear they have until they are installed

i would defently not go with used, go to autozone they have a liftime warenty on the balljoints, so if they go out again all you have to do is the labor, it is not that bad of a job to do if you take your time and have a air chisel

Already been said... air chisel and if you dont have that a drill works nice on those rivets. besides who knows maybe they have been replaced once and they are bolt ons now

If I was you and had the money I would either get factory joints or MOOG joints. I tried to go with cheaper off brand joints and they wore out extremely fast. And I haven't personally changed out joints with the factory rivets in them still but I heard that it can be a very very big pain in the ass getting those rivets out. And make sure that you use something to hold up you spindle once you get the upper joint out because if it all falls down you will most likely rip out your ABS line and possibly your brake line.
Any more questions just ask!
