you can get one from any blazer etc...i think in the parts code sticker that is in the glove box it says g80 as a part number. my gf's dad has a blazer in his yard that has that code in the glove box and im thinkin about "barrowing" it. but i think that it is in the glovebox that tells you and i know that any of the rear ends will work, but if it has disk brakes and you have drums, you wont be able to have an e-brake. there is a thread floating around somewhere on here, not sure who it is or whose it is, but they have one they were lookin to get rid of, ill try to find it for you.

IDK what year they started making them but you should have 26 spline axles which will give you trouble. I know Josh has one but it's gonna be a 28 spline. You might end up trying to get axles out of a later truck they should just slide in.

2000-up will be your better luck choices. Im not sure what year they started the Gov-Loc. Older G80 codes were LSlip units.

Just go to the junk yard and look for a truck, or blazer if you only want the "chunk". I would say go for the truck and just grab the whole rear it will be easier than a gear change. All you have to do is open the glove box and look for g80 if its there bingo you have a rear with the posi! Make sure it also says gu6 right next to it . Thats for 3.42 gears.
I am not sure what year they stopped using the 26 spline axles but you def want to get the 28 spline rear i think they changed over is 89.
But if anyone knows the right year just chime in!
Taking the g80 out if thats the route you want to do is very easy just pull the tires off the drumbs off. Pull the diff cover and check everything very well rotate the rear look at the teeth listen to it. Anything you can think of. Then push the axles in and wiggle them the C-clip should fall out make sure you grab them and slide the axle out. do on the other side and i am sure you can figure out the rest. But bring a crow bar to pry the unit out.
Its in there pretty good also grab the shims you might be able to re use them.
Enjoy!

GovLoc diffs operate differently than a Limited Slip.
Search on here. T-Man posted a thread a month or so ago with video clips on how it works. All your desired answers will be there.
