View Full Version : Tail Light Photoshop Request

So..turns out i'm okay at headlights but I can't make tail lights look right when photochopped. Any of you pros wanna lend a hand? It would be appreciated.
If you need a better angle picture let me know i'll try to find one...
I'd like to see both of these pairs if it isn't too much trouble. And only one tail light from each pair is necessary, I just need an idea. Thanks.

I like the 2nd ones in that color. The 1st set IMO only look good in the 'smoked' variety. Cant wait to see either on your truck tho

thanks!!! they would look great tinted!!!! i tinted my stockers and they look 100X better..

No problem. I like the tint but don't think it would go with my paint or the rest of my clear lenses.
Mike- I thought the second ones would look better as well but while playing with photoshop I just couldn't get them to look right. When I was done they kind of reminded me of ford tail lights like they have on some of their trucks. The first set however I actually got a half decent picture of with enough hit and miss effort. Here's the outcome:
http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s25/chevybrat/258597916.jpg
Been messin with this for a long time and this is the best I could do with this set of lights:

Don't look as much like Ford lights in this picture as the other I did but they still don't seem to flow very well with my truck IMO.
Are the reverse lights brighter with the LED's? The ones with the reverse lights on top look cool since they are just a little different.
By the way, that's a really nice looking truck!

I think you still use the regular bulbs in the reverse lamp. I have some kind of super whites in my reverse lamps. They are way brighter than stock ,even through the diffused lens. Behind those clear lenses they should be even brighter.
Those new ones put the rev lamp up top. Kinda reminds me of the Brazilian S-series taillight design.

Thoughts on these? It's almost my birthday so I might drop a hint with someone about some leds. And I know nothing about them. Do you just install them and use the stock light? Plug and Play type thing? Because I thought there was more to it than that...different lighting, etc. Any info is appreciated I'm still a newb in some forms :D
I think the first set will flow better with my truck and want to know what you all think as well. :) Maybe somebody can do a better photoshop with the second set.......

Yup. I believe all these kits are plug and play. Id make one recomendation tho. Either invest in a Pop-Lock for the tailgate handle or get some security torx bots to hold the lamps in. Easy to steal....drop the tailgate, unscrew 2 phillips screws and unplug them.
I think it was SyNoma who got his 1st set of Red/Smoked ones stolen. He since got the Clear/Smoked ones and some security measures.
At the price they are, they arent cheap. But do look pimp. I like the newer style (2nd ones) on your truck IMHO.
Is this what you are looking for?

Good idea Mike, thanks. I've been wanting to get some kind of tailgate lock but never needed it. Anybody have a link for one they recommend?
Yes Tom, that looks great. Crap I like them both....

chevybrat
02-01-08, 05:11 PM
Yeah I probably will, it's just ...figuring out which set I like more lol. I like them both.

they are both nice.. on the second set.. is the reverse lights on top or bottom?? seem kinda goofy on top though.. ya think??
chevybrat
02-01-08, 05:22 PM
Believe it's on the top. It's definitely different but that isn't necessarily bad...I just can't decide.

.. go with the ones on top.. just my .02 cents..

I'm leaning more towards the first ones. I think it might look weird with the reverse light on the top part of the tail light. Maybe that's just me?
Also, my boyfriends ford ranger has tail lights with the reverse light on the top part of the tail light. I knew they reminded me of a ford light...lol.

haha....so....the more I was looking at the two sets the more I realized, I really don't like the red against the blue of my truck. So then I looked at clear/chrome type leds. No, don't think those work either too ricey. So i'm lookin around and I find these.... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/94-04-GMC-SONOMA-CHEVY-S10-SMOKE-ALTEZZA-LED-TAIL-LIGHT_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33716QQihZ004QQit emZ140202915323QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW#ebayphotoho sting (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/94-04-GMC-SONOMA-CHEVY-S10-SMOKE-ALTEZZA-LED-TAIL-LIGHT_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33716QQihZ004QQit emZ140202915323QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW#ebayphotoho sting)
Personally I love them. They are awesome. But I was thinking, these won't look good with my clear corners or headlights. So I was still lookin but a friend wanted to see me photoshop these lights on just to see what they looked like. Wow. I think i'm sold :D
I'll go upload the pic to photobucket then I want some honest opinions :)

i like them. and im pretty picky. yal with the p-ups got sucha a wide range of taillite choices compared to us blazr owners. i think ive found like 4 types for mine and i hate them all
chevybrat

I'm very picky as well. Regardless of more options to choose between I still feel very limited..But I really do think these tail lights would look good on my truck :-]

Im really picky on aesthetic things like that as well but i like those... They dont clash with the blue like covers or chrome backgrounds would
I get off easy on this decision cause the stock tails blend very nicely with red hehehehehe
Okay BigRed... I see your sig pic(kinda makes me drool a bit), so what are the specs on your tires and rims?

02-02-08, 07:48 PM

Hope they look good installed. Wait on it and I might sell them to you if I dont like them LOL. ...Then i'll probably want to buy another identical pair down the road....like the corners....
They have these too kind of similar but not the same.

Not as of yet, just won them today. Read up on the feedback and had a few slow shipping comments. Just depends. I believe they are in Cali so shouldn't be too long if they get ontop of it.
I'm excited to see them as well :-]
BTW- I envy your Z...makes me crave big tires and a lift!

Well it was a little more challenging than I thought to install these but that is also coming from somebody who has never so much as changed a light bulb, haha. I had it all goin smooth until I didn't know where to plug the LED part in. Devon helped a bit and we got them in. Broke a lightbulb in the process, lol, but we took two out for the led plugin so we had extras. Anyway, I love them, here they are :D
Oh...This group of teenage boys went by while I was swapping the lenses, some walking some riding bikes, and one of the guys on the bike goes. "Hey. Are you doing that yourself?" So I said "Hi, yeah" He goes "Coooool!" hahaha It was so funny. Enjoy the pics.

Those look great Heather. A thousand times better than the old ones IMO. I like they have less of a chromey look and more of a smoked chrome look. I guess you figured out you only needed to reuse the one old bulb? hehehe Im jus pickin at ya =) Was there enough looseness to get the reverse light up top easily? They seem pretty bright too.

looks great!!!!!

02-08-08, 01:30 PM
Thanks Mike. I really like them. Yeah, it took me awhile to figure out I had to remove the brake light bulb. Never changed a bulb before, so yeah...Realizing that I only needed to re-use one bulb was the easy part hahaha.
The reverse light wasn't too hard. Just had to work with it and lean against the truck to get a little slack to the actual tail lense.
Yes they are bright. And that's just with my lights on, not brakes. The reverse light is even brighter.
Thanks for the compliments. :-]
