So...how many times have you went to go put that GM radio back in your whip thats been sitting in storage only to get the Loc suprise displayed? Being in the car audio business for many years, we had alot of customers in the same boat. Thinking they are going to get to keep their nice aftermarket unit for their new car and put the factory one back in. Either the dealership comprimises or they have to buy a new cheapo deck to go back in the trade-in car.
So we searched and tested every method we had found to disable the TheftLoc. GM dealers usually keep a tight lid on those procedures. Which IMO is re-damn-diculous since there isnt a high theft and demand rate for OEM decks!! But, this is the method we found to be the most successful on 1999 and UP GM T/L decks.

1. Turn Ignition ON.
2. Turn Radio OFF.
3. Hold Down Presets 1 and 4 At The SAME Time For 6 seconds.
4. Three Dashes Will Appear (_ _ _).
5. Press The Hour Button 2xs.
6. Then The Minute Button 1x.
7. (101) Will Appear.
8. Press The FM Button.
9. (rep) Will Appear.
10. Turn Ign Off.

This will ONLY work for pre-removing the code B4 you remove it for storage the 1st time. It should work on all year models with Theft-Loc, but may help someone here.

Good information to have, thanks Mikz86TA.

I was told by the dealership when I bought my truck that if I disconnect the battery or remove the stock cd player that all I have to do is punch in 1-2-3-4 in the clock (as if the time was 12:34) and the radio will work again. I removed my stock radio and installed an aftermarket radio and when that was stolen I put the stock cd player back in and it worked fine, I didn't need to do anything. I removed the stock radio and installed another aftermarket radio so I hope the stock one works if I ever need it again.

Sorry Jason but I didnt. Ill look around for it. I have a binder full of OEM wire colors, homemade bypasses for factoy disables and all sorts of crazy stuff. But Ill be damned if the RDS unlock info is missing from it. I may have to get it from a buddy in the business.
Ill be sure to post it up ASAP when I get ahold of it.

RDS Theftlock decks require a GM Tech2 to unlock. Also the radio has to be the same one from the vehicle in which it came. IE VIN-matched.
If you just change the battery, you should be fine. Unless you leave it unhooked for days.
