I am going to change my fuel filter but want to know where it is first. I have an 01 blazer 4.3. Also any special tools required?
Thanks

Right underneath your behind!! Drivers side inside frame rail. God I cant remember the size off hand, but normal wrenches should so and if it proves to want to maybe strip the nut, then a brake wrench (flarenut wrench) if that size so that it wraps it more like a socket. The front end if the filter faced toward the motor is a clip deal, squeeze the plastic clips on the fitting and while pulling out the line!

Yeah what Jedi said. If you have a 4X4 it can be a pain, the 2wd is a peice of cake.

Great thats exactly what I have. When you say frame rail is that anywhere close to the shock?

The frame rail is actually the steel rails that make up your frame. They run from the back bumper to the front bumper. So yes, it is close to the shock, in a couple of places.

2 wheel doesnt have a transfer case and this can be cumbersome when trying to gain room to turn wrenches etc!!

Personally on my 4x4 I've never thought of it as a pain to get to/remove... Then again that's just me :D

This is probably overkill, but be prepared to deal with a minor gasoline spill. I had a really scary moment when I pulled the first connection off the filter and gas started running down towards the drop light I was using. Nothing happened, but there was a moment there when I was wondering, what happens if theres a spark with all this gas laying around.

So some gas will spill, Are we talking major amounts enough for say a drop pan or minimal amounts for rags. This is good information thanks!

You'll get about what the filter holds to come out. Its under pressure so its bound to come out. You can remove the gas cap to relieve a little of the pressure or take the pressure off at the schader valve which still makes a mess!!

Just a little will dribble out if you remove the gas cap first. Not much to worry about -- I just let it drip on the ground and gave it 2-3 minuets to air-dry before I got back under there to put the new filter back on.

Well I did it, And the hardest part of it all was the plastic strap that was around the original. Had to cut it off with a razor blade and some elbow grease once it was released it was all down hill from there.
Thanks for everyones help in this matter. I also changed out my trans filter for the first time, that went without a hitch so glad its all done!
