T MAN -- in this thread you helped a guy that wound up having spark plug problems and towards the end referenced your write up on the bosch plugs.

this is that write up.

i understand why a 4 ground strap plug is no better than a single ground strap one because of the fact that it cannot fire on more than one at a time.

but my question is basically, i was given 6 of the bosch platinum plugs with the 4 ground straps brand new. cost isnt a factor here. i want to replace my plugs but i ran into the thread where you state they arent good for our engines. fine, but why? do all people run into problems, is there a specific reason for this. im just trying to figure out if i should just go out and get the ac delcos, or should i just put the bosch in there because they might be a better plug for reasons you listed, but not better because of the 4 prongs...

any insight would be great.

I am incredibly anti bosh platnum plugs especially in GM vehicles. They are all our shop stocks, and I always end up getting delcos to put in when doing tune ups. You can run them if you want...its up to you, but ive seen our trucks run so much better on a set of delco platnum plugs.

I ran the bosch in mine and a few months went by and it was like it was losing power and even skipping some. A friend of mine that is a mechanic told me to throw them down a hill and put reg ac delcos in it. I did and no problems. I have run nothing but since.:D

ya, i guess for the cost of 6 ac delcos im just going todo that instead of risking some problems.

so i guess im just going to send the free bosch plugs on down the line.. haha

I usually gap mine 45-50 instead of 35, it gives it a larger spark kernel, but they dont last as long. I usually change mine way before they go bad.

Bosch bad, A/C delco good....personal opinion. bosch are expensive and the life even thought they say is better just don't seem to last....I know just about all the bosch plugs that I have installed in customers cars they seem to wear out and then they complain of hard start bad accelleration and poor milage. I take the plugs out find them looking ok but install cheapo a/c delco plugs and they are happy again....its not like the customer doesn't come back I see them on a regular basis...(not car related) and they are all happy with the repair

getting away from the plug issue (for which i am happy for th replies) i decided to take off my CAI right to the throttle body, im definately going to have to clean up he MAF sensor and what not, but inside the intake plenum there was a pretty good film of dust and grime, again, easy enough to clean... however, down in the throttle body there is that same type of grime, how do i clean that? or do i clean that?

i dunno about *cheapo* AC Delcos... i spent $6.50 a plug for my AC Delco platinums not long ago... and thats the only Delcos my parts store carried lol

use some tbi cleaner NOT carb cleaner....they may call it carb cleaner and it is safe to use on tbi. it can screw up sensors if you use the wrong one....any GOOD parts store could show you the difference in cleaners.

I swear by Bosch. Delcos are good. NGK plugs are about equal to Delco in my book. I have run Platinum and Platinum2 plugs for years and couldn't be happier. Great mileage, smooth running, and no plug fouling. The only plug I consider better are Denso Iridiums... but i refuse to pay that kind of money on something driven farther than 1/4 mile at a time.

Even if you hate them... Bosch aren't even close to the worst. Champions suck. I wouldn't use one in my lawnmower and I sure as hell won't put one in any of my cars. Balled up toilet paper makes better spark than those defective pieces of ceramic and tin.

I have seen both AC and Bosch go bad.I just see more Bosch than I have ever seen from AC.I have NGK V power in my S10 and they run great. One of the best plugs I have used.Took them all out after 10k to take a look during a check up and they were all still burning nice and clean. My little Honda I got now I just put a set of NGK in it and it runs even better than the Denso's that were in it.But they look like they had been in there for awhile. They still looked fine but I already had the NGK and they run smooth in the little rice burner.
