View Full Version : New From NewYork
Hello fellas from newyork.Just got a 2002 3door 4x4 LS s10 from #2 son with 88,000miles.Truck is clean and runs good.Just installed new cap, rotor, wires, plugs and starter. Its a 4.3 v6. Could not get #3 plug out, steering shaft in way.Where on s10planet do I find info on changing out that plug?
Frist Welcome....Now for the plug Problem..If ya have aplug wrench that has a place on end for a open end wrench you should be able to get it off that way...But if that wont work you will need to remove steering shaft...On my 93 4x4 Jimmy I had to remove shaft..But on our 92 4x4 Jimmy I used a open end wrench on plug wrench to get it out..It is a pain but it can be done..Give that a try...

Welcome... enjoy your stay! :D
There is a 4.3 Vortec section, that may be where you find the answer. Is that one that's accessible through the fender well??

Welcome to The PLANET!!!
Search PITA #3 plug.
Most remove the steering shaft. Unbolt the shaft at the steering box up front after you mark its position. Slide it toward the firewall (it colapses) off the splines. Pull up out of the way. Some go through the fender flap (remove drivers tire/rim) and go straight on it with the 5/8 sparkplug socket and extention.
Sounds hard, but really easy.
