Speedometer not working. Questions:

1) Does this model use a traditional speedo cable or sensor?

2) Where does this cable originate (i.e. transfer case or transmission, etc)

3) If the speedo cable/sensor originates from the transfer case, what part of the transfer case? That is, is it the "ABS Transmission Sensor" that comes of the rear-aspect of the transfer case?

4) What is the most likely cause of failure (i.e. the dash speedometer itself, or the "cable", or the "sensor", etc)?

Thanks in advance,

Should be electronic. The sender is on the drivers rear of the tranny tailshaft or transfer case. Has a 2-wire plug...pink and yellow I think. Goes to a buffer box which I think is yellow in color and behind the dash somewhere. Converts it to electical.
It may be a straight cable too tho. Sparky would know for sure by your year.
My 86 TransAm has electronic.

It uses a vehicle speed sensor. Most likely failure is the sensor, with the DRAC following closely behind.
