AutoMundo Awards "Car of the Year" to the Pontiac G6

The leading Spanish-language automotive magazine, AutoMundo, presented its 2005 Car of the Year Award, the best regarded and most recognized award in the Hispanic automotive market, to Pontiac after the GM division recently introduced the G6 coupe, G6 convertible and Torrent.

"We are extremely honored that AutoMundo chose the all-new Pontiac G6 as their Car of the Year," said Jim Bunnell, Pontiac-GMC general manager. "This is the highest and most recognized award in the Hispanic automotive market. The award is very important to our goal in creating broader awareness and acceptance of Pontiac in the Hispanic community."

As a serious contender in the midsize sedan segment, AutoMundo Magazine found that the sporty G6 delivers performance and engineering advancement and excelled in every aspect of the assessment.

"After several hours vigorously evaluating each candidate to identify the car that best represents the exceptional value and superiority defined in its class, AutoMundo Magazine found the Pontiac G6 to be the best and most noteworthy automobile to receive the award," said Jorge Koechlin, Publisher, AutoMundo. "The Pontiac G6 is a capable, comfortable, fun-to-drive car with great handling, a roomy interior, wide range of standard features, with an available innovative panoramic sunroof. This makes the G6 the best option for a wide range of car buyers."

In making the selection, vehicles were driven on the track and on the street, in a wide range of road conditions. Many factors were tested including engineering, technology, value, handling, balance, response, reliability, power efficiency and many other aspects of the car.

Pontiac is a division of General Motors Corporation (NYSE: GM) and markets the Bonneville, GTO, Grand Prix, Vibe and Montana SV6. Pontiac sold more than 474,000 vehicles in 2004, ranking third among GM divisions in total sales. In 2004, Pontiac introduced the Montana SV6 crossover sport van and the G6 sedan. The G6 coupe, the V8-powered Grand Prix GXP and the Solstice roadster will follow in 2005, with the G6 hardtop convertible bowing in early 2006.
