4.3 has one, lets see if we can do something, what has your 2.2 beat?
mines in the shop, so i cant add to this yet.
Nothing yet. I havent bothered racing anybody with it. I know it wont beat alot, but my mods are slowing growing. Plans are to turbo it some day.

Wait, wait....a 2.2 will beat a 4.3. In gas mileage.
2.2l racing stories make me want to dump violently. The kind of violence that ties knots in my meat chandelier. You know.....that kind of pain.... the pain of defeat and shame. Smell too.
Wait, I'm sorry...carry on.
lol! ouch. thats harsh. lol

I had a 2.2 1996 Sonoma and I lined it up with a realy fast ant and beat him. Thats about it though. It was so dam slow, but it was good on gas.

My buddy's '98 against my '94. Both the same in terms of powertrain, body style (But not trim!) only I had a factory 4.10 gear & he (Now this is suprising) 3.73s. I just got mine back from a engine rebuild (Damn timing-chain frags) and it was just broken-in. We lined-up out on a four lane business district road (Empty 99% of the time), loaded-up and launched at the count of one. It was even 'til I hit 2nd, then my truck jumped forward getting a lead on him followed by me just walking away. My bud was shocked at how such a small difference of gear could make with the Double-deuce in a dime.

It's all in how you build it... Visit http://www.jbody.org and talk with guys like MadJack, OHVNotec & slowolej to learn what really can be done with the LN2. And tell 'em: Dimer sent me!

I meant in general, not the race between the dimes...
Blown head gasket, then a cracked head, rebuilt tranny, new front suspension components..........uhhh.....it killed my bank account

Never had those problems with mine. The worst was that I got hold of it with a spin rod bearing at 135,000mi. So I bought a later model block that was salvaged from dime that fell off the transport when it was new. $350. Then I learn the later engine won't be a direct, easy swap into my year truck because of many changes that were made to it between '94 & '00, non off which had anything to do with mounting or the starter. "Okay, I just replace the crank & oil pump!", I figured. But once I got the pan off the reason for it showed clear as day: The mechanic who replaced the chain when it failed had failed to remove the broken remains of the old chain from the pan! The result: the oil pump picked the smaller frags up & fed them to the engine. And on a LN2 oiling priority is: Cam & lifters, mains, rods. So I swapped cranks only to learn the lifters were contaminated, resulting in it ticking like a diesel. That killed me a 'lil. Having to explain to everyone whom heard it run for the first time that it wasn't a diesel & why it sounded like one killed me more. Then finally, at 165,000mi, the lifters finally collapsed causing a no-start condition on a rather cold November day. Kill, kill, kill. So I located a shop in Kankakee that would rebuild it for the lowest price I could find, but it had to be towed there so it meant the total cost would be higher still. The slaughter continues. When I finally got the truck back around christmas they claimed the starter & alternator failed as well (How could the starter fail? I replaced it with a later model starter when I swaped cranks!) prompting a replacement, meaning more added to the bill. It just won't stop, will it. The total: $3500 just to get a reman installed. And I was trying to save money on it. That really killed me. But it didn't end there, as the final blow was one morning about two mnoths ago it had another no-start. I examination & witness to an odd ticking sound from the front of the engine pointed to another failed chain, with baely 30,000mi on the block. And the neighbors were too uptight to let me replace it at my house (Gravel driveway only) and no one I knew with a garage would let me tow it to theirs and use the space inside. So it was off to the local shop whom checked it further & said the valves supposedly got bent too. And the starter failed & needed replacement. And the total price would be well more than the truck was worth at this point. I think I could die now... So, I was forced to get a newer truck for $3500 that was of a lower trim level (SL vs. LS) that started showing severe trans problems. Won't it end?
And now the latest: Just found all the papers for the '94 so as to sell it, along with the warrantee on the engine. 60 months w/unlimited mileage, which means Free Replacement by Installer! And I thought the warrantee had lapsed after three years/35,000mi. Now that kills me.

Alright, back to the original topic now...
Hey, how come I haven't heard from any of the guys who've turbo'd the Double-deuce yet?
here's a little example how quick my 2.2 is n/a
bone stock BUT fipk k&n 18.1 at 74mph with 2.4 60'
with mods
I ran right behind my buddy's mid 16s teg, so that will put me in unofficial high 16s
this is done on 0/near 0 sea level ft in my reg cab 5spd
al's header(custom and unavailable to produce buy as of now)
coils, intake, tb, efan, pullies, non a/c, + couple mods I can't remember as of now, 205/65/15 tires all around
my piston ring is ruined(****ed up egr mod and coolant went through cyl #1) so on running 3 cyl and I still can beat stock 2.2
