So I saw a few things about this 'kids in the sandbox' clip and it was suposed to be just some gross thing about peeing. Im not into thngs like that for the record but after reading some post about it off Google I decided to at least see what all the fuss was about. Bad descision dammit! I found a link to the clip and it had some pop up that I thought I hit NO on. It started to copy something and I hit CANCEL. Apparently it did it anyways.
Almost everytime I open a IExplorer window or go to another net page, I get a pop up saying that my systems infected by an Unknown Trojan and to click OK to download the anti-spyware stuff.
Setup.exe is what it wants you to download and run. Searching it looks like a windows process or something. But Im unsure.
Google search comes up with some stuff but when I try to go to those sites, I either get a IEDefender software and pre-scan or I get a Error code and cant view anything.
I also get the Google cant view anything issue on other searches.
That IEDefender search nets 3 things it found.
Trojan.BetaDivX.Clicker
Trojan.BetaDivX.Temp
Trojan.BetaDivx.Backdoor
Anyone heard of these?

I have never heard of these befor, but trojans suck. Some are a pita to get rid of.
I use a program by "Moosoft" called "The Cleaner" It does trojan virus specificly.
I would update your virus software, and run a scan.
EDIT:
I should add that the program is free off the website, I have used it on many other people's computers and havn't had an issue with spyware or adware.

My Goole Browser is F-ed. So a link maybe my only source to get those. I have SuperAntiSpyware, HiJack This, ATF Cleaner and Norton.
Norton was useless anyways and expired at this time. Because I want to dump it and get something better. Recomendations welcome!
SASpyware found and deleted some stuff but not my issue
HiJack this is good if you know what to look for. I have a saved logfile I just did.
ATF Cleaner doesnt do anything for Trojans best of my knowledge.
Anything else?

have you deleted your temporary internet files? A lot of times you will just just keep getting reinfected after cleaning. delete those files, run spybot, and i usually then use avg antivirus (free) and that has cleaned up some of the nastiest bugs i have encountered
DivX is another video compression software. I find it a bit strange the trojan is named after it although it is probably code that it's borrowing.
AVG Free edition: http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1
IEDefender IS the offending software... try this for the removal: http://www.pcindanger.com/iedefender-removal.html

OK. So on BleepingComputer.Com my questions got answered and problems solved.
I ran the SmitFraud.EXE program which I had already from the past in SafeMode. Option #2 = Clean.
Then I had downloaded a program as instructed called MalWareBytes and saved it to the desktop.
After rebooting the computer in NormalMode, I ran MalWareBytes and did the online Update as instucted. Launched it and then did the QuickScan.
It found everything and I removed it.
Seems OK now. Ill still keep an eye on things.
If anyone needs the link to that Forum and my Topic over there concerning this issue. Please just let me know.
It was from some video clip link that came up and I thought I hit Cancel on the Pop-Up Box. Apparently I didnt or it ran anyways. That expains the DivX part i guess.

Oh, but I did get that Startup.EXE and/or FilesSecure 2.1 downloaded as well. It was suposedly the fix for it in the pop-up box. I shouldnt have accepted it. Now it wont remove in the Add/Remove section of ControlPanel. It has it listed, lets you select remove bt the box has Close and Cancel as options. Either which does sh*t. No REMOVE box ever is an option.
So I need to figure out a way to get rid of that. I may try to remove it in safemode

i had something like what u got. i had all the "symtpoms"(i guess you'd wanna call it that) you have. when i found out what files they were i deleted. but every time i restarted my pc the files were back. so i had to shut off the automatic save thing on the pc(i dont know what u call it) then delete it and restarted my pc. then they were gone.
i hope this helps. i suck at computer lingo so bare with me

The other option here, is to do a control-alt-delete and end the Internet explorer or Firefox task.

make sure it didnt infect any of your system restore points either, a lot of time these bugs will linger there too. if they do, turn off system restore (which will delete any previous restore points so be careful). Re-clean your system and when you know it is clean turn system restore back on and create a fresh restore point

im gonna put in 2 more cents...
when your through and through and everything is good, lose what ever anti-virus program you have, and install the free virson of AVG. It is by far, one of THE best anti-virus's out there, and its free. It does a better job than norton will ever do, and you gotta pay for norton...figure that one out. Also, if you are running 2 or 3 anti-virus programs at the same time, your not doing yourself any good. Running 2 programs at the same time basically cancels eachother out, and now you have no anti-virus.

X2 and avg has a very good anti spyware as well that is also free. I have run them myself for years, kinda always thought that paying for antivirus is conflict of interest for the software company

X3. I tried to look at the same site where you got infected and my AVG warned me and took care of it.

If you pay them enough, or have a 'well trained' gf, they can put them on w/ their mouths. ..food for thought.
