View Full Version : too bad
A guy about 20 miles from my house listed an 88 blazer with a knocking engine for $500. The body was solid. He had it up for about 2 weeks and then sent it to the crusher )0; Think of how had I found it sooner I could have had it for free, and then had a clean body to work with. Ah well, let that one slip away. There'll be others I'm sure.
Sounds just like my luck....

sent it to the crusher, seriously?? we have charities around here that will give you tax credit for donating cars. or even a junk yard should give you some money...

Yeah that guy sucks. The boys ranch here takes old car donations for the young guys to work on and build skills. They use or sell them afterwords for some profit to run things. And its a tax writeoff.
Way more satisfying and beneficial to donate it rather than crush it. Plus I couldve parted it out for money, put a new engine in it for very little myself. And even some of the old engine wouldve been salvagable.
I hate it when I see stuff like this. I see cars at the pick and pull that are still in good shape. Maybe some minor body damage and a blown motor. Theres a Fiero GT with a 'redhead' 2.8 that was out there a few months back. Had one split panel, inside was kinda trashed. It had been repainted and some of the body panels were from other cars. But all in all it wasnt that bad. I was just reading on a Fiero that has a LT1 swap and have seen Nortstar V8 swaps in them. Its a shame
Crusher? WTF? The yards use to give $150 scrap value.
Same here... donate for tax write-off. Even if he didn't... the use a charity could get from it would be tremendous.
And damn your luck! LOL
Yup, I know. I got 750 for a car that wasn't even drivable because of the amount of oil it leaked. We;ve got Newgate among others here. Newgate teaches people with troubled pasts how to wrench on cars, it helps them get a decent job and be productive.
That sucks! There has only been one vehicle I've had hauled off for free... an 86 Blazer that had been rolled. I stripped out the interior and gears and the few good body parts left and had it hauled away.

that sux even if it wouldn't run-it'd be awesome to have a project car out of it...
That's the thing, it did run. It drove well. the 4 wheel drive worked. Even the Air conditioning still worked according to the add. All it did was have a knock in the engine.
