ok. last post i had a no start. replaced the ecm and it ran for a few days. went to start it yesterday and nothing. it putts a few times thats it. the coil is firing. and the spark is getting to the plugs. i believe it is out of time. i also believe it is the cam sensor that controls that.
1)-how do i test the cam sensor?
2)-could it be possable that the problem i am having blew the stock ecm and now the replacement one?

Check your fuses/relays first...ECM fuse, Fuel Pump fuses/relays..make sure your fuel pump is comming on...
Yes, if the cam sensor went bad, it will cause the engine not to run, or if it does run, to run like crap. As far as testing goes...ya got me on that one..

ok. i put the old ecm back on it. i am having the exact same symptoms as with the new one. so my conclusion is that the new(ish) ecm is blown too. i can replace this and make the truck run again no problem. but somthing on the truck is blowing ecms...now my question is how the hell do find out what?

does anyone have the pinouts of the ecm?
what sensor actually controls the timing?

Could it be a bad ground wire? I guess I'd be inclined to make sure there aren't any shorts anywhere. "Boy that sounds like fun".

i went out yesterday with my timing light to see if it was firing on time. the damn thing started up. its good that my newish ecm isn't blown but now the problem is intermitant. does anyone know if the correct vin needs to be in the ecm? the newish ecm is out of a 02 blazer with the blazers vin # in the programming. will this only allow the ecm to start the truck a cirtain number of times before it has to sit for a while?

What year is yours?
I do beleive the VIN does need to be correct. But I am unsure why.
Why did you replce the PCM in the 1st place?

its an '01. i replaced the pcm because my friend had a extra one and i thought it would be worth a shot. the truck won't run at all with the old pcm, so i know thats bad. ever since i put the new pcm on, i have intermitant no start. it was running just fine 3 days ago, went to start it today and nothing. not sure where to begin on this.
