Guess what I got for (next) winter..

That's right, a '92 2 door blazer. It has a 4.3 & a 5 speed manual trans. Won it on Ebay for cheap. Obviously it needs a little TLC since it's 16 yrs old but.. whatever. I've still got a few S10 parts layin around here that I can throw on it. I think I'll drop it, since I've got the 3" drop lower control arms. I do have a question though.. would these (http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=DJM-SB4LK) work to lower the rear? Is that too much of a drop in the rear for only 3" of drop up front? I guess what I'm asking is would it level it out of would it sit too far down in the rear..? Here's a few crappy pix.

not bad man! hows the rust if any?? i think that drop would work well. probably level out. i personally kinda like the rear just a tad higher on those but if done right if could look good.

Only rust is on the lower part of the drivers door.. about 2"x4" in the front of the door & 3"x3" at the back corner. Body looks pretty straight. Door locks are another story. Driver's door won't lock/unlock w/ the key but locks/unlocks from inside.. I think the linkage fell off or is missing from the back of the door cylinder. Other than that.. looks great.

Eric, I don't think I'm going to use lowering blocks. I think I'll use 3-4" drop springs. Surprisingly enough the interior is great... minus the trim on the side of the passenger seat. It's non-existent. You have any bucket seat plastics?

Found the reason why the driver door doesn't unlock. I stopped out by the house today & pulled the door panel off.. just as I thought.. the linkage was off the door cylinder.

I'm tryin to just clean it up & make it a little more like the X.. suspension-wise. I don't like how sloppy this thing felt takin off. I think I was gonna do a wheelie.. or at least 3 wheel motion like the lowrider crowd. I plan on dropping it 3/3, ZQ8 sway bars (front & back), drop in a 350 TBI (& use the roller cam I have from a ZZ3/4 crate motor), delete the a/c (yep, delete this one's a/c, too),.. & a few 'other' mods. I want to change the seats. I like the sunfire (pretty much the same seat as the cavi.. since they're both J bodies) seats & may go look for another set, then ditch the rear fold down seat.. or maybe I'll leave it. IDK yet but it doesn't latch.. & who's gonna ride back there anyway? That's what beds are for. If I can find a set of older camaro IROC style rims at the junkyard I may get them. As for paint job.. IDK. Flat black? Rustoleum Blue? (I'll spray can the *****)

..I know this is problably gonna sound stupid.. how do you take the plastic strip off the front bumper? I looked behind the bumper & it looks like you need to take a flathead screwdriver & push each 'nipple' out from behind. Is that right or is there an easier way?

Are you trying to preserve the strip? If not, then just get a pair of vice grips under one end and just pull.

Well, the strip is in really good shape & if someone needs it.. great. If it were FUBAR I'd just cut the F'n thing off.

I just used vise grips and ripped mine off on the rear, I kept the front just due to the holes.

How are your lower quarter panels on it? I do have brand new patch panels for them. I am getting rid of my 92 2 door s-10 4.3 TBI. and have alot of parts laying around. I am getting a 93 2 door 4x4 for 500 bucks in exactly 1 week. I am local as well if you are interested, hammer head.

Yea, I just ripped mine off, too. Lower 1/4s are good.. only rust seems to be just a little on the drivers door &, now that I pulled the bumper cover off, just a little by the front bumper. Out of curiosity.. what kind of parts do you have? Do you have a center console? I'm looking for the hindge & possibly the cover/lid, because mine is a little ripped & there's no hindge.

Well, a little bummed.. I got what I thought was a 350 TBI for the blazer. Turns out after cleaning it up, taking off the oil pan & seeing a short stroke.. I decided to run the block number.. it's a 305. I guess that's still better than a 4.3, but still.. I'm sad.

Yea, oh well. W/ the cam I've got I should still be making somewhere in the area of 305hp. If I had the 350 it would have been about 335hp but w/ a lot more torque.

I have a 350 4 bolt main block.. but it's trash. You know.. a 305 is more than enough for winter. I'll just suck it up & deal w/ it. Not a huge deal.. but still gets me a little upset.
I pulled most of the engine apart & so far it looks pretty clean. Haven't seen sludge or anything really crazy which tells me it was fairly maintained.. coolant looked pretty nasty though. Looking though some info turns out the 4.3 has 45# injectors & the 305 only has 40#.. looks like I'll just swap over the 4.3's TBI & be done w/ it.
