$26 an hour is a cheap shop rate. I would do it myself though.

It's up to you if you have $26 dollars you can live without and don't feel like messing with it go for it. It would cost you that much or more at most big shops. The dealerships around here charge $80-$100 an hour!

i did mine myself with no help. i used a jack with a towel for padding to hold up the door. then did 1 pin at a time. i bought the door spring tool at napa. theres a how to on here. its easy really. but i think the tool was like $30. what happened to the spring that was in it? but if u dont wanna do it $26 is a good deal.

when i did mine it was my first time. i did things a little different than this guy. this way seems better though. lol for instance i didn't use the socket and bolt trick. i just used a small hammer and tapped the in. plus i didn't tape crap. when i bought my truck the drivers side was bad. when i did that one i didn't have the spring tool. i tried for 2 hours to get that damn spring in and couldn't. so i got a scratch or 2 in the door jam. it is impossible to get that spring in w/o that tool. so i just knew they had to have a tool for this some where but who has it. so i asked the body man at a local dealer. got the tool from napa then got the spring in no prob. couple months later i noticed the passengers side started leaking. it took me about 20 mins tops to do that side with no scratches this time.:D
don't worry its not a big deal. if i can do it and i can fufk up a wet dream. u can do it to. plus if u like GM's you better learn cuz its a common thing. i had the same problem with a '89 and '90 full size. but those didn't leak water so i didn't GAF.
Got to pop that cherry eventually, I'd do it myself. Or... helluva good price if you're too scared. :D

Use a hammer and a punch. Just don't hit the windshield. I think i got the spring tool at murrays for cheep. The first time i did it i made my own spring tool, and was a real pain to use.
I got my spring tool on E~Bay for $8.00 and like 4.00 shipping. It works good. Everyone around here has used it at one time or another.
