Between the shorty headers and long tube headers what will give me the most bang for the buck? I want headers either way, and i know it's gonna sound better either way but i want the most hp & tq. i can get. So what'll it be? Oh and does anybody know of any good brands to fit a 4.8L Vortec in a 1999 Silverado?

With a full size you might be able to get away with long tubes, but you should still cutt the flanges off the left collector and weld to pipe in. premade long tubes GMs have a tendency to hang on the tranny linkage

short tubes you wont have to modify the stock exhaust, but less bang than long tubes

Short tube headers make better lower end and do good at midrange then begin to lose a little of how there were gaining at lower rpms at upper rpms.
Long tube arent good at all low end, midrange they begin to come to life, upper rpms they begin to do there thing.
If they do in fact make a long tube header then I would imagine thay make the mating section of the y-pipe to splice into the factory exhaust. Shorties will go right in!

dean lapole headers are pretty darn good. they are a mid length. i run them on my truck and love them. not too many people have them. if your putting the headers on a 4.8, go with the mid or long tubes.

flowtech long tubes are nice, and make good #'s for torque and hp.

Shortys are ALMOST a waste of time. They do beat factory cast iron manifolds. They barely win out over factory tubular exhaust.

Never have and (as far as I know) never will put a set of shorty's on.

hehe, bring it! I'm taking it back to the dyno. Think I figured how to go 150-160 shot on my nitrous. Orifice wise I'm about 135 now but it hasn't seen the track with that. Maybe 12.4's on a stock motor? suuuhhhhmokin!

We only run Summit points twice a month this year. Other 2 Sats. are t&t 6-11PM.
Lets do it.

What changed in '94? Notice LMC's listing for full length stops there. Dimensionally I thought it to be the same. What's the deal?

I think the exhaust ports where moved for better flow. Can anybody confirm this?

If you look down into my engine compartment I don't think there would be any room for long tubes. Could be wrong but still it would be very tight.
