:confused: looking for suggestions on how to troubleshoot this problem

Could be a number of things. Try to get a code reader or have AutoZone read it for you.
Commonly its a bad ABS controller or a bad ground. The later is what you are hoping for. But it could be a bad wheel sensor or something along that line.

wheel sensor is the most likely, but we will need a code to start with

i know how u feel, same thing with sonoma. i checked the ground u guys told me to, it didnt work next time it comes on im gonna have someone check the trouble coad

If you took off the dash and unplugged the switch that allows you to turn off the pass. side airbag, without disconnecting the batt. and pulling the abs fuse,the light will come on.

Bad EBCM?????? Unfortunitly as a Autozone Manager, we can only check the OBD2 Functions with a cheap Actron or whater it is Orange Hanheld, it doesnt check ABS functions

lol i went to autozone the other day to have em check it. and they didnt have one. so i went to the dealership paid the $40 to check it, and as my fears came tru, its the abs ecu, damn it

Id still try the ground. The ECBM doesnt work right without it. =)
