View Full Version : Blower Motor Noisy...

The blower motor on my '98 Blazer is annoying. The fan blows "okay" (although not very much air on the lowest setting, it does blow extremely well on the highest setting). When it's running, I hear this ticking sound that basically happens every revolution of the fan. It wasn't as loud when I first bought the Blazer, but now it's been getting louder. At any rate, what is involved in replacing the blower motor? I really don't want to have to evacuate the A/C system if at all possible, but would love to replace the blower motor to stop the annoying noise. Has anybody done this before? If so, what all is involved?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Ricky

something may have got sucked into it, or a bearing is going out. i've seen bags sucked in there
look under the hood on the firewall on the right side. There Is a black plastic case takeing up the whole side on the black case about 4-5" to the left of the right fender is a round metal peise with a bunch of little screws. That's your blower. You don't need to evacuate the a/c are even mess with ac really. just unplug the blower motor remove the screws and pull it out. reverse the process to put it back.
a great tool to have for this one is a flex exstension and a 1/4 inch ratchet set.
