Well, I think I've finally figured out what's wrong with the truck. It started out being sort of finiky starting a couple years ago now it's progressed into misses whereas the truck "shuts off" while driving for a second, as if you switched the key off while driving, and then comes back on. I've noted performance wasn't really what it should be and gas mileage has been lacking for a 2.2.

Is there any way to do this procedure other than using something like the Tech 2 Scan Tool (http://www.autobarn.net/xxx3627.html)? If not, what's an "average" cost for doing so if my mechanic friend doesn't have a $4500 tool. I've researched and can't find much info on how to. Through research, I did find a couple cool toys.

NOTE: I am no expert on this, this information could be wrong or misleading. This is just what I've come across during the day while looking for answers to my P1335 code. If you have done this type thing, please respond with info.

I find that it should cost somewhere in the 100-150 range for cable/adapter and software ranges from 30-up with OpenSource as an option for free and the info you can gain from it is well worth the money.

I really want to interface with PC like I do with my PowerCommander on my motorcycle. Basically, you need what's shown below:

An OBD-II interface with a "scan tool" or an inline tool like ScanTool and connection to your computer. Software, there's both retail and OpenSource (http://the-gadgeteer.com/review/driveright_carchip_e_x_obd_scan_tool_review). Some look self contained like the CarChip below.

AutoTap (http://s10planet.com/forum/www.autotap.com)- Seems to be one of the best ones by my searches through various forums - $199.00 for everything minus computer.
Just check out the Demo Videos (http://www.autotap.com/video_clips.asp) for software

You can take it to a GM dealer to have the relearn done. Takes only a few minutes. Prob cost you a bit less than than any of those scan tools.

Oh I know. I agree. You just can't keep it when you leave the dealership.

Autotap looks quite complete. Just watch the demo vids.

I got a "friend" who owns a shop and he's going to do it for $20 bucks. I called my local dealership here and they wanted 80 to reset the computer, thats just with a standard code tool. When i told him about the CVR he immediately got offended and acted like I didn't know what I was talking about, like I was a smart a$$ just cause I research and just got off the phone. He had no idea what I was talking about.
