My 96 2.2 is suffering from virtually no oil pressure at idle once it warms up and piston slap when cold. It still runs OK though. was thinking of a rebuilding with new cam bearings, mains and maybe pistons?

I can get a 99 2.2 out of a S10 to put in until i get the other engine done.
What are the issues out of swaping a 99 2.2 into a 96?

I know they changed the head and pistons in the newer motor.
Will all the sensors plug up? I found some link on google about
a guy that tried to do this and got excessive ping or such.
It was a pay site so i could not get all the information.
Any thoughts on if the 99 to 96 2.2 swap is possible and what issues
there are? Will a 99 computer directly swap in for a 96?

Also, what tools are needed to replace the cam bearings in a 2.2?
are they the same as a v8 small block?

you'll need rest of 99 wiring, ecm and swap it directly to make it work, including in/ex manifolds, since its obdII and 96, it'll work with auto/5spd as well, you should also get key cyl/lock/ignition in case of passlock situation but you can also send ecm to www.wait4meperformance.com to have passlock removed + tune and any other goodies you want to do with it.

however, rebuild is cheap(just do complete rebuild in case 99 motor may have problem or none at all
