You can't go wrong with a Smith.
Nice, I've seen them at my local gun store

Back from getting that gun and starting the 72 hour wait period.
while waiting for the paperwork to be authorized I came across this
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/e/e2/Type_14_Nambu.jpg/800px-Type_14_Nambu.jpg
1940 Japanesse Nambu 8mm service arm.
Stamped and authenticated.
One day Ill quit buying so many historical pieces and get me something modern that doesnt weight a ton.
I'm obsessed with WW2 period guns. heh.
I'm gonna start a collection one day.
No 72hr waiting prd here in Pa :D

No time like the present, the Nambu is worth over 650 bucks in its condition, im buying it resale/retail for 200. I cant go wrong on this investment.
You gotta do your homework with old military arms. They are easily counterfieted yet a true one has number sets and matched stamps on every piece of the arm.

That is good rifle too. Mowed plenty of us down during the early 40's
You can take it back to its original form, just check the value first and see if its a big difference from original modified to restored.

wooo nice i've heard bad things about the nambu's miss firing though on accident
Im more of a fan of the American/German/Russian small arms.
Got nothing against the other stuff, just what I prefer.
Its all still cool stuff

I usually buy 1 box for my antiques, always wichester due to the cleaness of their ammo. However the Nambu I am purchasing, has very minimal bore marks from firing, its actually rather clean with the sharp rifling still present.
It will get 1 box ran thru it like the p38 then itll get cleaned and put under glass.

the nambus i was watching some gun show on tv about them. They showed if you put pressure with your hand on a certain part of the gun it would fire accidently. They reported alot of accidental deaths due to getting shot in the leg from leaning on the gun in combat or something. What i saw on tv. Cant always believe what you hear on tv but just thought i'd share.

Its a known flaw with them. I would have hated to be ordered to carry one at the time they were used with the accidental firings and ghostfires they caused.
Its a tricky gun to operate, when the slide is locked and pulled, you have to shove the clip in then release the hammerslide with a round chambered.
The nambu is going from their locked case to my locked case, that one will not get fired.
I am digging these german luger "broomstick" handguns.
I saw that as well. Part of the sear is exposed & you can accidentally trip it
It was on Tales of the Gun on the history channel.. long time ago. lol

For it being issued in mass quantities as service arms youd think they would have tended to the design flaws, NOPE, too busy trying to fight off A-Bombs.
That Nambu (type 14 IIRC) should be ok to fire. Check the date stamps, and as long as its early war, I'd shoot it. The pistol with the Exposed sear was the Type 94, which was a POS anyway.

My wife needed new glasses today so the nambu is on the back burner till next payday.
I brought the P38 home today and stripped it down, everything is stamped, even the clips and holster. 100% period authentic never refurbished.
Now I just got to wait till we get some win 9mm 115gr fmj's in at work and ill throw a box or two thru it.

What model is your AK?
The whole reason I havnt gotten mine is the fact that if its a yugo or czech you cant modify them under federal law, cant even get an ext mag for em without the possibility of a felony. Correct me if im wrong on the law but thats what the ATF told us when we got our FFL for the store.

Mine is a Romanian ak47 WASR-3 5.56x45mm (.223). 30rnd stock mag....gettin ready to order some extra mags for it. Most of the modifications like cosmetic or putting rear folders on them or rail systems shouldn't be illegal. They're supposed to have a certain amount of american compliance parts in them im not sure how many i think 3-4 parts. My quad rail system counted as 2pieces and my rear folder was 1 piece. The pistol grip was another 1 piece. The internals are american made also. Now you cant have a pistol grip on a AK or m16 style gun with a barrel under 16".

I live in the blues't state in the nation outside of san francisco. We cant have pistol grips on our shotguns. one is ok at the stock end but if you got a pistol grip on the reload slide you got a felony.
Its something about the yugoslavian due to them being a defunct nation that you arent allowed to modify. I get the ATF in our work alot and they bring and school us on new BS laws and **** to watch for.
Hell me picking up a nazi pistol got me an interview from them for hate group affiliations, I really couldnt believe its gotten that bad in this country.
There is an M4 field kit( field dry bag, cleaning kit, supperssor rails ect) more tactical then anything for 1500. I need to check the laws with that guy. Nothing like an M4 AR with a 100 rd drum clip attached to it.

lol. They just think a decked out ar or ak base framed gun is gonna turn somebody into a killer. Just like insurance they give women better insurance policys because "guys are more reckless" but thats more being sexist to men. Not everyone is the same neither are gun buyers. Granted alot of robberies go down with ak's or ar' and other weapons but they're well built platforms and who wouldn't want one?
