I recently pulled some info out of a scattered drive for one to see if I could do it, second was to reclaim some hard found info I had saved. This one I'd like to share with all of you since you all have seen my standings on certian modifications and me retracting my own butt dyno at times. As some of you know I havent really done much with this Blazer performance wise to which I actually keep running the same parts. Ive been testing on my own different things just so I can share with you the outcome.
You must have the ability to read PDF files and now I will link you to something done a few years back!!

Those are the basic truth which I have always stated for some time. Full exhaust might get you 8 and a air intake stays under 4 for the most aprt. Yes everything is needed of these tyeps before continuing with cams etc, but dont ever think you really grabbed all that much when under 5 h.p. MR Butt cant pick up and Mr Wallet dynoe always says works wonders. I wish they had done and efan also cause seeing Chevy mag do showed no major improvements!! The programmer did fairly well then people complain it felt like nothing when it works in and area you really wouldnt feel!

My Noma based at 143 and after every conceiveable bolt on was done, then added the cam and rockers, screwed with the tune as much as possible I only managed 193 afterwards. I know the cam and rockers were good for at least 30 h.p. so 20 on all the rest!!!

wel i just went looking for the dyno sheet from a coupe of years ago and i found it. it was 2 august's ago in 2003 in bowling green ky at z06vette fest. if i remember it was hot enough that i was sweating pretty good. these are the numbers i put down bone stock with a clean paper air filter:
max power: 158.0 @ 5500rpm.
max torque: 215.1 @ 3500 rpm.
dont ask me why the rpm's are so high on the horsepower. i think it has something to do with the fact that my tires were about an inch shorter than factory (235/55/16 from 205/75/15).

Pretty interesting article.I have always debated that bolt ons only add minimal hp/tq gains. The only real horsepower bolt ons are actuall engine mods.Like a cam, headwork, larger and or better valves, rockers, crank, pistons, and etc. Those are were the real hp/tq gains are made.Real good article though.

Nice article. That covers pretty much everything I had planned for mine. I like seeing the nice shiny headers too

And out of all the mods they done oin that article the headers are in my opinion the best bang for the buck.Ogf course the brand length and coating can be a factor in that formula too.Atleast that story backs up with a dyno exactly how much HP gains are to be had.But if you look at those gains they are to the rear wheels so you add drivetrain loss and those are pretty good over all gains.Again real good article.

EXACTLY. This is the second OBD2 vehicle I have had and doing the last one the money I spent, WOW. Alot was to test stuff for the boards so I could give opinions based on experiences rather than I think it can or the old butt dyno I felt it all the time you see. I data logged all kinds of times during mostly normal driving applications not seeing any real world change in the readings from sensor when I add, remove then add the mod again which told me something is amiss somewhere.
This truck I have left pretty much alone only spending the minimal amounts on certian things I knew did something, but not that much. First area was air intake, do I spend $250 again for K&N and name, or do I do something else which does the same thing for less!!
More or less the reason I posted the article when we have our own store that sells this crap was to give some warning to what you see posted elsewhere for one. That way you dont get caught up into a K&N FPIK that everyone swears its cats ***, but a Air Aid one like I got for half. We know it does something this fitler deal, but if I can save a buck to put elsewhere, why not. Same goes for cat backs etc, why the big name, big price one when a littler known etc can do the same thing for less. Then for those who must have all out, DONT SPEND the $1500 or so for 20 h.p., go big or go home kinda and do a S/C, a NOS kit or something instead!!

I would definitely beg to differ with that statement. . . You left out one of the single highest power-gaining mods that can be done:
A SUPERCHARGER.
And, with all things considered, it costs less than doing cam, headwork, valves, rockers, pistons, crank, etc -- and is less time intensive.
But, I do agree. . . CAIs, cat-backs, headers, and other bolt-ons only provide minimal gains -- usually the lower end of the range they list. If it says 5-10 hp, you can bet the bank that it will be 5 hp (and to the flywheel, at that).
But, all things considered, most people do this stuff on their daily drivers and don't have either the time or the cash to "go big" with mods. A little extra hp and most people are happy.
Personally, I had a CAI, cat-back, ignition, and other smaller mods in place and wasn't satisfied -- that's why I have the screen name that I do. LMFAO!

Well I had a big old post that I though was quoting your post. But instead I must have clicked on the edit and when I clicked send I see my post under Superchared's name.So then I had to go back and copy your original post and put it back on your post. And I lost the big post I had typed up.So now it's more trouble than it's worth.

UH OH! Do I detect a rebuke? Hey, I don't disagree in the least. . . You just left out a SUPERCHARGER. . .
ROTFLMFAO!
