while on our cruise i learned that in America we should be soooo very happy we are not in the Bahamas for buying a new car. We took a tour and our guide explained that after we passed a new car lot why the payments advertised on the windows were $899 for a stripped out Mitsu Montero....they have a duty (tax) on new cars shipped in, that tax is 58% of the purchase price, one cabby was driving a brand new Caddy SUV...which with my math, with the duty he was cashing out at least 70 large for that truck....as nice as that weather was and all i would rather be able to drive out of my country and not pay for a car 1.5 times!! I guess we can count ourselves lucky in that sense, glad to be back though!!
