Chat help

How does one get on to a chat room? I click on it and use pop up window and then I get a msg that says certificated not good or something like that; forgot what it says. So I click ok and it says connecting then unable to connect:null. Can't do anything after that. I thought I would add that I have never been able to do anything in there. Its not just a recent problem.

It could be a firewall blocking the connection. Do you have a software firewall, or one of those hardware routers (like linksys or netgear)? If so, you may have to tell it to allow outbound port 6667. If that doesn't help, just post up some more details (type of browser you are using, type of computer, any antivirus/firwall software you are using, etc..)

I have a 1998 HP POS. Running Windows 98. Verizon DSL. I have the sygate personal firewall. I looked around in the program to see if anything is set to not allow that but I don't see anything. It does have an advanced rules section maybe I should tell it to allow outbound port 6667 like you said but I don't know how to do that. I will have to check into it. Unless any body else has that type firewall and knows what I am talking about.
