Looks like I need a new radiator again, my old one was like 6 or 7 months old, and it started leaking a couple weeks ago, went to a radiator shop and they said it cant be fixed. Anyone know where to get a good deal on one?

I've had it for about 6 months and no problems AND the truck runs cooler. They are in Cali too.

I'd offer to sell you my old one but by the time it got there you coulda had the JTR one.

whats the price area for those?

firefighter

huh? what are you talking about the e-fans? If so you could prolly pull it off for around $150-$200 if you do some junk yard searching or you can spend $400-$500 if you go all new Flex-a-lite stuff.

They have a new fan that comes with S-blades should be quieter.

It costs over $100 more, pulls 6 more amps, flows 300 cfm less and is harder to install. Why do you like it better?

oh man I was expecting a little cheaper, i think i might have to wait on a e-fan then. Thanks for the info.

It covers about 98% of the core which actually cools better. I know for a fact that the truck runs cooler with the dual fan I actually ran both on the Brick (my '91 Blazer) and then put the 210 on the '03. If you ever get the chance read the JTR swap manual it explains the reasoning pretty well. Actually there is a article on the V8 site I'll see if I can link it.

Oh and BTW what you got works so don't change it. When I did the swap it was b/c the fan motor went out and it was almost stupid to rebuild the existing fan once i priced it out so I stepped up to the 210.

I've thought of this and it makes sense. I think you could build a frame to stand the flx-60 off the radiator an inch and then make it widen out to cover the whole radiator if that makes sense. It's hard for me to explain. Basically just build a shroud like the factory one that necks down to the size of the flx-60.

If you do a little hunting you can get a Tarus fan for about $50 and then build you own controler or get the VSC. Here is a link on wiring a Tarus fan

That heavy duty radiator make a big difference? I bought it from JTR about 6 months back and still haven't installed it. I was hoping it was a decent upgrade to that tiny stock one that is in there now.

Well it's kinda hard to quantify. I went from the Clutch fan with the small rad to the 210/VSC combo with the HD Rad. The motor stays at around 200* but I have the stock temp thermostat so I expect it to be up there the fans come on regularly but not excessively (remember I live in Tampa FL) it's hot around here also the fan is set up to come on with the A/C which is almost always on. But overall I would say it was worth the investment also it gives me peace of mind for when the S/C gets done.

The nice thing for me at least is that what I had was working fine just that the clutch fan was allways going and driving me crazy. So I was able to take my time making the shroud for the set up the rad came in and out several times and I spent about a week getting the frame and shroud how I wanted them. So I guess my point is if you have everything you need install it soon while everything is good and working so you can take your time.

Best part of it all is now my truck doesn't sound like a Cessna when I leave a traffic light. I hate clutch fans.

Actually the clutch fan on mine was quieter than the flx-210 I have now.
I run a 180* t-stat but I have to watch the A/C in the summer when in stop n go traffic.
Been waiting for decent weather to swap the radiators, but it's either been raining or crazy windy and too cool still to work on.
Just wondered if it is big enough.

Well I would guess (from my experience) the JTR rad will do you well, also check the thermostat mine used to do the same and the thermostat was just "sorta" bad it usually worked but sometimes it would stick.

Yay it came today, it looks sweet, gonna put it on tomorrow mornin, change the thermostat and the oil.
