4.3 tbi blazer probs

buddy has a 89 blazer that wont start. it has a msd 6t ignition box. havent checked to see if its gettin spark yet or not. he said he held an allen wrench to the coil and it didnt get a spark. so were gonna put another coil on it and see if that was the prob. if not, does anybody know what it could be? possibly fuel pump? also, the rear hatch wont open. the handle on the gate just spins and spins. how can i get it open?

Check the MSD site and download the PDF manual. There are the steps in there to checking the box. Check for power and ground too.
Is the interior panel on the back accessable to be removed?

just unhook the box and check 4 spark. if its not getting fuel it doesnt automatically mean the fuel pump is bad. the filter can be clogged up or you might not be getting power to the pump (relay,fuse?) you should hear the fuel pump come on when you turn the key to the on position.
