here's some good advise for everyone reading. Invest a few dollars in a chiltons or haynes book and a small tool set.plyers, open end/ box end wrenches, and a socket set.

here's a perfect starter set

sears 83 peice home tool set $99.99
comes with:
1/4 drive 6pt std(3/16 - 9/16) and metric sockets(5-14)
3/8 drive stn (3/8 - 7/8) metric (10 -18) , 1/4" adapter, 5/8 spark plug socket, 3" extension ,6" exstension, quick relase ratchet
8' ajustable wrench, plyers, screw driver w/bits, hammer, tape measssure, utilty knife
all this in a nifty carrying bag you can throw in your closet or behind your seat

add the book for 20-30 bux you have enough to do simple repairs to your own ride for less than 150 bux. vs 60-90bux an hr going rate for "so called" techs now.
It dosn't have to be craftman tools or high end tools like matco either you can buy your tools from waly-world and they last a little while(my favotrite 3/8 drive ratchet came from k-mart 10 years ago)

I bought my dad a set of these reversable racheting wrenches for christmas and they're great. I just wish they weren't so expensive because I'd like to have them in all sizes. With the open end you can still put some good torque on them. I've heard of the racheting side breaking in some rather easily. With a good warrenty this shouldnt be a problem though.

you might also want to add a set of screw drivers. at least 1 philips and 1 straight slot.
and maximus do you really like those. I've been looking at getting some but I wasn't sure if they were worth it because I have wrenches and sockets.

If you look close at that pic you will see the lever switch that is similiar to a ratchets. You don't have to flip those over to reverse direction just flip the switch.I chose that set because it has the most popular used sizes of both standard and metric.I would not give them up for nothing. The gear ratio is so tight just the slightest movement is needed to tighten or loosen that bolt in that very tight spot were a ratchet won't fit and a wrench would take you forever.I have punished the hell out of mine and ive not had one problem at all.And even if you do it's Craftsman take it back and get a new one.The Snap-On truck had a set of the same wrenches under their Blue Point brand that I almost bought.Thay came in a 12 piece set of metric and 12 piece standard. Each set was about 170 bucks a set.Yes you get 10 more wrenches but you figure up the price difference. Now I am a loyal Snap-On customer. And I love all of my Snap-On tools and they have served me well. But the price and quality in both were just so close I went with the Craftsman.Because they were cheaper plain and simple. My dad went with the Blue-Points he is just that loyal.Blue-Point for those who don't know was one of the first mergers that Snap-On purchased. But anyway I would highly recommend the Craftsman ratchet wrenches to anyone.I would with out a doubt say they are one of the best tool purchases I have ever bought.Once you have them you will wonder how you ever did with out them lol.

Notice in this pic the switch is not on the wrench. They have to be flipped over to change directions.Thses are great wrenches too,but most of the time you don't really have the room or patience"atleast I don't lol"to keep flipping back and forth on a certain task.http://www.sicgmtrucks.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=560&stc=1
And here is a close up of the reversible switch wrenches like in the set I posted earlier.

i luckily have air tools but i love the ratcheting wrenches, we have em up to 21mm in metric, and up to 1" i believe in standard. cheap china ones off eBay but they have lasted over a year now with no problems on a single one.
