Do you think a RCI firesleeve will keep the boot from cooking if the sleeve it's self is touching the headers?

And have you ever cut one of these in half?Becuase i only bought 2 and i kinda need 3to4.What do you think will happen?I think it will just frey like the EGR cover.

I would find a way to get the boot off the header.
the sleeves will help keep from completly roasting you plug ends, but if you have a plug wire touching I recommed metal sheilds as well as the heat resitant kevlar boots.
u ust to have to custom make the sheilds, but I thinck there are companeys tthat sell them premade now. I know taylor has metal plug wires now.

yoiu have headers, i take it? get the jba plug wires and put them on and while you are in there change the #1 boot over to a 90* boot. that is how mine are and mine dont touch.

Oh yeah jba headers and every mod you can think of!Anyway im using a (make them your self) kit for an LT1 this time(2 extra),90deg plug ends.I've had these headers for 4yrs and i cook 3 wires all the time1-5-6!even though they don't touch, they are only 1/8" to 1/4" away.

IM WAY TO GOOD AT CHANGING IGN PARTS!ON A HOT MOTOR!LOL

what kind of wires do you use? I have msd wires with my jba's and the number 5 touches the header tube (nothin I can do about it, tried everything) and has not been burnt up in the 8 months I have had them on there.

are the headers coated?
if not try some header wrap near the area of concern. i hate header wrap and don't recommend it but in this case it should help. are those 1 5 6 wires 90 degreers or straight on? there has to be a way to get the wires closer to the head
