What is the biggest size tires that will fit on a 1st Gen S10 4x4? Without a body lift or suspension lift

30's or 31's i think. slap some wheel spacers on it and you wont have to worry about too much rubbin.

30s... as long as they are on factory rims. 31s may fit with minor trimming.

If you change the backspacing with wheel spacers or aftermarket rims, you'll have rubbing issues... the tire will no longer be 'tucked' in and end up rubbing the inner fender on turns. I had to hack the crap out of the Blazer's inner fenders to run 30s on aftermarket rims and it still rubbed on compression in turns.

Thanks, the reason I ask is im trying to get a more "agressive stance" from the truck. Without purchasing a lift right now, I will be getting a lift just not sure when, Im thinkin maybe a 3in Body, Dont have the money for suspension right now

30's rub on factory rims
they are the biggest you can go, usually 30x9.5x15 is max for stock rim stock 4x4 height.

thats the 30's on mine. they rub on the inside of the sway bar pretty bad when you are locked left or right.

They have plenty of room not to rub even when at full flex

Its just the inner front sway bar that rubs and the wheel well slightly but more like a skim rub not a slowing rub.

what does changing the tire size do to a computer controlled drive line?

if you go with a 3in body lift the geometry of the cooling system will be so far off that it wont cool well in traffic. i had to run dual elec. fans on my 89 to get it to cool good with or without the ac on. also in some rare cases the floorpan may tear around the studs for the seat if wheeled hard on a consistent basis

it mainly affects the speedometer reading not sure what it would do to the abs if anything.

I run 255 70 15 witch is about 1 inch shorter than 31 10.50 15 and just as wide with no rub at all. No lift. I can stand it on two wheels (right rear and left front) and no rub. I can turn it from lock to lock and no rub.

I knew about the speedo part, I was more wondering about fuel mixture and shifts as a result of the effectively different ratio.

I had 31 10.50 on mine for about 50,000 miles or so and it was fine. I turned lower rpms at speed than I did with the smaller tires. It shifted about the same. The only thing is on hills it will shift out of over drive when it won't as eazy with the smaller tires. I did not like them because of the rubbing. I got the 255 70 15 because the are 1 inch shorter and are as wide.

the real question is how much if any trimming do you want to do? i ran 32x10.5's with stock rims with no lift. i did trim the corners of the fenders just a bit, and it would rub the frame and swaybar, but that never bothered me.

Unfortunately, I think the amount of trimming needed is dependent on each vehicle... its wear, age, and suspension package. I couldn't fit the same rims and tires on my Blazer Sport that I could on my Baja (at factory ride height).

I also found that the spindles starting in 90 I think... were different than those 89 and back... they were just a little shorter.
