i want to reboot my computer but theres some files which i wouldnt like to remove....i got the norton 360 and some other stuff like music and pictures and videos that i would like to save...can i buy a external hard drive and save everything i want to hold on the drive and just reboot it and put it back into the computer...or how is this possible...plz give your opinion on how it would be possible thanks..
my computer has alot of errors and that is why i want to reboot..when i restart it or when i turn it off and start it..it takes a long time with all the errors its got and this is the only way i am aware to fix it..
Well a reboot shouldn't cause you to loose data, but if you've got lot's of errors as you say, well better safe than sorry.
Yes you can get a USB2 based external harddrive, hook it up to your computer (which hopefully has USB2 ports and not the older USB1.1 ports) and just copy everything you want saved over there before reboot. Then copy the stuff back.
One warning though, if your music is in itunes or such, be careful, check on apples site to make sure there aren't any restrictions attached. Same with any other purchased music as it may be locked down in special ways and if you reformat your computer you might not get access to your music again.
Final note, even if you have the older USB1.1 ports, you can still do the same thing as far as coping, it will just take a LOT longer to move everything (think nearly days vs hours kinda LOT).

yes it is possible to do this....first you must understand the difference between your personal data and installed software..
Your music and videos and text files and whatnot...are personal data...yes by all means back that stuff up..burn it to dvd or plug in a external drive and move that stuff off the hd to save it...
The SOFTWARE you have installed, Norton and such, you can always re-install that stuff if you have the original discs....
my computer has alot of errors and that is why i want to reboot..when i restart it or when i turn it off and start it..it takes a long time with all the errors its got and this is the only way i am aware to fix it..try running Spybot S&D...(great proggie) And yes I agree with others about Norton...Ditch it...AVG and other Virus scanners are available for free..So why run a hacked version???
