Problems with my HVAC system

Am i the only person or does all the 1st gens have problems with the air not working ?

In my truck i've replaced the dash controls twice already and the air only works when it wants to. Smack the unit and sometimes it will come on sometimes it don't.

I also have problems with my vents. They don't work only vent that works is the floor vent.

This problem really frustrates me.

But another thing is my compressor cycles constantly on and off when the AC is on. About the only thing that works good is the heat which seems to stay on all the time...

Just venting some frustration that i had when i was driving my truck back in GA...hopefully when i get back i can fix this problem.

You guys think possibly it could be the compressor is bad ?

Also with the controls not working what would cause that ?

on all a/c settings except "max a/c" the compressor SHOULD cycle on and off. this is perfectly normal and proper.

as for the controls not working, it is probably a vacuum line that is cracked or leaking, you will have to track it down. that will make your controls work again.
