I'm still debating on the glovebox lamp. Sounds neat and would be nice to have... What all is required with install? I'm really bad with buying things I don't need then setting them aside and not installing them haha. I still haven't installed the CD storage bin you sent me Mike, lol.

Install is easy. I have pics of the procedure. Basically its push the switch/bulb assembly in the pre-made square hole thats on the right upper edge of the glovebox opening. Push the dome/lens in the round hole just under that edge. And wire the Black wire on the pigtail to Ground and the Orange wire to constant hot. I wired both those wires to the corresponding-colored wires at the 12volt power ports (cigarette lighter plugs) at the bottom of the dash. Just was an easily accesible place and required just a few short peices of wire.

Lemme know. Install help and pics arent an issue.I'm still debating on the glovebox lamp. Sounds neat and would be nice to have... What all is required with install? If you are looking for one, I can look when I go out to the junkyard.
You need Graphite right? Or does it matter what color? What year do you have?
There are some subtle differences in an earlier and later A-pillar. The top where it meets the headliner has a slightly different curvature. Also the later one has more of a outward bulge as it runs down the pillar. I think 98-up and pre-98 was the differences.:shake_125 lol. :D gauges? Thats what i want it for.

DMP - Yeah, I have a guy interested in the face, switch and plug. But I think he wants to use them to convert a std switch panel to a fog switch panel. Im unsure if thats possible, but it may be. I have to investigate it further. But its weird, he also said its for his brothers Xtreme which they are adding fogs. ???? If its an X, it should already have fogs. So Im waiting on his response.
Lemme know if youre interested.

12sws27 - I guess color doesnt matter if you are looking to make pillar pods. They used to make those pre-formed add-on pods, but the shape of them probbaly doesnt match the s-series a-pillar form. Ive done some custom fibberglassed pods B4. But after that you have to wrap the peice anyways in some vinyl or fabric. So color isnt an issue in that case.
Just tell me what route you are going and if color is an issue. Ill check to see what I find.

Heres a pic of a gague pod I made for the 98-2002 Console conversion I did in my 86 Trans Am. I have a dual pillar pod and needed a 3rd gague. So I found this spot perfect for a 2 1/16 gague.
I used a flat peice of ABS plastic. I cut it to sizze for the place I wanted it, and rounded the corners.
I drilled 4 holes around tha perimiter and put 4 small fine thread bolts through the plastic. I used epoxy to hold tham in place. These were used to securely mount it to the console.
I went to Lowes and bought a short 2-3" peice of PVC pipe that fit the 2 1/16 gague snugly. Actually it worked out really well.
I cut a round hole in the ABS sheet fot the PVC to sit down into. I angled the PVC how I wanted it to be so that I could easily see the gague in the drivers position. I epoxied the PVC pipe peice to the ABS sheet.
I drilled 4 corresponding holes on the console for the bolt-studs to go through and used nuts to secure the pod in place to the console.
After I test fit everything, I used Evercote KittyHair to fill in and form the shape I needed. If you ever used KittyHair, you know what this stuff can do.
It took more time to sand and shape the curved form I desired to have than it did for the rest of the fabrication.
Once I was done, I had a custom angled 2 1/16 gague pod.

On second thought Mike, I just found a 3 gauge pillar on ebay. I gonna go that route so i dont have to do anything but put it on. I have one of those 2 gauge pods all ready. But it screws on. I didnt what to put screws and cut holes in the one I had now. So I wanted an extra incase i every sell the truck. I didnt know there was a whole pillar out there that would fit.

"It fastens directly to stock pillar, and it holds three 52mm..." if you are expecting that to replace the entire pillar.. you are wrong.. this one screws to the pillar just the same as the two gauge ones do..

Ill refund all your money brother if its not what you need. No worries there. I cant do anything about what PayPal charges for their transfer funds fee tho. Im actually not sure how that works. Ill get some installed and side by side compariason pics.

OK. refund should be done by the time you read this. PayPal says all money including fees would be refunded. They charged me $0.88 on that transaction. So hopefully you will receive the entire amount paid $20 back into your account.
Im refunding it all. I appreciate your offer of $5 for the trouble, but it wasnt any trouble and I dont operate that way.
Im sorry it didnt work out. Wish I knew B4 hand on the differences, but now I do. =)
Check out from time to time. Its one of those things I can easily get if I find one availible. Im going back out to the yard in the next few days. Ill check on one for a later year.

what was the differences?

Mikz86TA

Just where the newer one starts up the pillar above the dash, it bulges out more. This allows clearance for the wires seemingly. The result of that bulge also goes to the headliner area. The factory later headliner is cut off further back and lower. In other words, the older a-pilllar has to mash the newer headliner in at the top which crinkles it and the pressure pops the a-pillar panel back out.
However all the clips are the same on both and down the side of the dash where the upper part of the kick panel and the lower part of the a-pillar meet are perfect. I took a pic but erased them. Cause it didnt do any justice to seeing what the issue was.

So thats why the pillar pod in summit only list them to 98. i was wondering what the differance was.

thanks a lot man.. i got like 19 bucks back, but no worries..

but yeah, the junkyards around here are very... um... lets say proud of their stuff... a third brake light cover, just hte cover was gonna be 30 bucks... their pricing manual was an lmc truck catalog.. i came home, and found i can get a new one for 30 from them... stupid rip off artists

Noremac
06-19-08, 12:30 AM
yeah 19.12... oh well... since ebay bought paypal, everyone is getting screwed lol'

it was worth the 88 cents to see why that pillar wouldnt work lol

Now heres something I found.
As I posted in correction, there is a break somewhere in year-model that the earlier design and later design a-pillar differences. IMy 2003 has the bulgier late design. So I was assuming the earlier one wouldve been from a 1994-1997 model and they probably changed it with the dash change.
But hang on! I found a 1998 (new dash and exterior) with the same thinner designed a-pillar. It was an ext cab with 3rd door, IDK if that matters.
IM still looking into it more :D what was the differences?

Noremac
06-20-08, 12:52 AM
hmmm... so now what?? i dont know the difference between the two.. i dont know if mine is the skinnier version, or the bulged version :( gm must have found spare parts in their warehouse and thought,"hmmm we can make a truck from a few pieces of metal and a bucket of assorted screws..."

Console harness is for AUTOs with floor shifter. It attaches to the shifter to show the transfer info about what gear the auto shifter is in. Theres also the light for the shift indicator.

IDK if you are asking about the Fog Switch or the Air Temp Sensors. Let me know which.
