(stole that title from T-man!)

I tried out the 'noma on the auto cross course this morning :D

#262 (I though it was an appropriate #) got 4 runs in with one DNF where I spazzed out on where I was supposed to go and missed a gate. On my second run a friend of mine who's been racing for years went with me and gave me some tips which helped. My next two runs got significantly faster and I ended up taking off 10 seconds from my first runs.

I was the only truck there and I got lots of shocked looks and tonnes of people asking me questions. The tech guys nearly shat in their pants when they opened the hood, they did alot of laughing! They teased me on the starting line as well so on my last run I put on a smoke-show out of the gate for them :p

Overall my times were about 5 seconds slower than the bulk of the pack who had all raced before. I finished with a best of ~50.5 secs and the winning times for the dedicated race cars were around 37 secs. I was easily shaving off a second or more with every new run so I was happy. I took a run with my buddy in his mazda speed 3 and was blown away. He ran 38 secs and it made me realize that I wasn't pushing nearly hard enough!

Pics to come eventually - someone there had a camera so I'm hoping they caught some of the token truck!

It was a blast, just as you'd expect! I was a bit anxious about what kind of attitude people would have but everyone was great, really laid back. There were a few asian guys with WRX STI's that were totally blown away that anyone would even think to run a truck, they were really excited about it. One guy competes in a lowered Chevelle with a built 427 and full slicks - absolutely amazing to watch a car that huge rail around the corners at the same speed that the subie's were going!

I'll check to see if anyone posted pics now...

no one else has posted pics yet - here are a few lame ones I have. I was marshalling most of the time when I wasn't driving so I didn't get a chance to take many

the guy in the white 'vette was sideways or backwards almost the whole time and I never saw him without a huge grin on his face. the blue neon popped a head-gasket halfway through its second run (surpise)
