Guys, I need help. I have no low end tq. When I am high in the RPM's I can go like hell.

In the works right now I have a 1 inch aluminum TB spacer getting made (Free thanks to the PSU Machine shop) a modified polished 4.3 tb, and i am gonna bolt that up to a stock intake manifold (ive done my resaerch, they flow pretty well) then im gonna bolt that on as 1 deal. Pulleys will be shortly there after, then it is on to the trans with a shift kit and servo. Headders and y pipe are 3rd on the list with 3.73 gears last. I have decided on this order because of the necessity to be done and ease of installation. (im at school and have a limited tool box and no where to do any real work.) What will boost my TQ inthe bottom end guys? I know the gears will help a great deal, but those are last on the list.

Thought I would also inform yall , my projected 396 plan blew up in my face. If you remember I was gonna put a 396 and an m 22 in my truck over christmas break. Well I got into it and found out it had a broken crank. So I decided to get it line honed, and get the bores cleaned up and have it decked. When I get the $$$ im gonna start to build it, but with my mod list now, the one for my suburban, and my penchant for hunting and guns it is on the back burner

How much do you think good low-end is? Even in stock form our eninges have plenty to cause traction problums (minus the 2.2L). The first mods I made was to the suspention so all that power would get to the ground so I could use it.

If your low-end is really bad then there could be a problum and you should deal with that first. If it's all ok then I'd recommand the gears and pulleys first, and some way to up the spark timing (with more timing I've seen gains as soon as 1500RPMs).

can anyone tell me why this sounds wrong!!!!!!

you put in a mild cam and get a good all around power band.

You could always Stroke it, make it a 3.4

or put a small block too! Here is my delemma. The most down time this truck can have is several hours. I am at school, and it is parked in the parking lot. I have a small tool box. Need to be bolt on's/tuning

My cpi seems like it needs more low end, too. But its just cause I have
a crappy combinatoin of 3.08s, oversized tires and crappy stall speed.
(and who knows what else)

My Moms 4door blazer with 3.42s takes off alot easier than my 2door
with 3.08s. The gas pedal is alot more touchy from a stop, obviously.
But once Her blazer gets going it requires more effort to go faster
and keep that speed...well compared to mine anyways.
But once mine gets up to speed it will cruise for ever....

If its a big problem, maybe you should bump up those 3.73s on the list ....

it was a thought, but, like I said, i really dont have anywhere to do any serious work. I can do little work, like an intake manifold, and pulleys. I am gonna have someone do my trans work. and the gears will hopefully be around spring break, hopefully

unless you have the right measuring tools you can't put the gears in right. backlash and gear mesh have to be almost exact. best take it to a shop that knows how.
