I've thought about this before, but it has gotten lost in the shuffle of things to do. When I got the Blazer, now Blazelanche, the engine had gas in the oil "although the guy I got it from assured me it didn't. Anyway, I change the oil and filter automatically whenever I get a vehicle, "this is how I found the gas". So, not knowing how long the bearing were submerged in fuel, what are the chances that they are still any good? When the truck has chosen to run in the past, it runs very smooth with no knocks or ticks, but that is nothing like daily driving it. Obviously I'd rather avoid getting things going only to have a dreaded bearing knock show up.:dunce_125
Thoughts?

To clarify, I know and expect problems to arise when the truck first gets back on the road.

What was your oil presser when hot? If it was low then worry. If it was good then your good to go. Was it mixed with the oil? If the gas was sitting on top or the bottom of the oil it was not run like that. If it was ran with the gas it would have been mixed with the oil.

It was never started by me with the gas in oil. I changed it the same week it arrived in my garage. When hot, the oil pressure is still up between 40 and 80 PSI.

My fuel pump went on the Baja's 350 and leaked gas in the oil for a while - I didn't catch it right away, so it ran like that for a bit. That was in the Spring and she still runs fine now.

I've been kind of keeping an eye out for an engine to rebuild. I don't want to spend a ot right now on another engine as I'm still working toward drivable here. I'm not opposed to a V8. I had a person who's a well respected auto mechanic tell me that YOU CAN'T put a V8 in a 4X4 S truck. I just said, oh, ok. I didn't feel like arguing. Anybody in here other than Tink have a V8 in a 4X4 dime?

With my past experiances, with small engines... the fuel inlet needle sometimes sticks open, and the fuel makes its way up through the carburator, and into the engine, and eventually into the crankcase, diluteing the engine oil. Sometimes the lawntractors are stored over winter in a shed, and this is when this will happen. People bring them in all the time with gas in the oil, all I do is pull apart the carb, clean it, new seat and needle, clean the main jet and idle circuit, and change the oil. To this date, none of the small engines that have done this have not had a problem.
I know its not a car/truck engine, but its the exact same operating principals.
I dont think your gonna have a problem. Change the oil and you should be good.
