yes sir, it is the right now.. lol, its so clean :p whats the best way to pull that stuff off of the surface? prep wipes? i am not totaly sure how i am gonna go about mounting a pillar pod to it, but that was the whole purpose of buyign the spare one.. one that i could experiment with, and/or finish out and install it without worrying about destroying the stock pieces..
thanks again man.

I use a mix of PurplePower and water (40/60). A mix of simple green would also work. Prep wipes are OK too. The surface will prob get hazy looking.
Are you buying one of those Auto-Meter type a-pillar pod sections? Are you planning to glass it on?
Or are you going to start from scratch and make your own a-pillar pod?
I made one for my TA. Its actually a console pod. I installed a 2002 console into my '86. In front of the shifter was a space that had a lighter and pocket.
I took a ABS plastic sheet and cut it to size as a base.
Next I took my 2 1/16 gague to Lowes and found a short end section in the plumbing area of PVC pipe. I found one that fit the gague perfectly.
I took the PVC, trimmed the end at an angle that I wanted and then cut out a hole in the ABS for thr PVC to fit into. I adjusted the angle to my taste.
I used Plastic Epoxy to mate the PVC and ABS together.
I made a mounting system to put the pod to the console.
Then I used Evercote Kitty Hair, mixed it with hardener and packed it around the outside of the PVC. Then its just building it up to a rought form and sanding it smooth to get a finished form.
The result was a curvy form that went from the base to the gague opening.

Its hard to tell fron that pic, but it actually does have a curvy form to it.
You could do something somilar with some thought, planning and time. I was going to do either a pod ade like that where my ashtray is or on the a-pillar. But I have no gaues yet so thats a future project.

well, i am gonna get a triple gauge pod off ebay, and either just mount it to the pillar by a few screws, or use 5-minute epoxy, cut the pillar pod down to where it is only the pods, and not the rest of the pillar, and mold it...
i have been told that the longer setting epoxy works decent for these types of jobs... i guess i am gonna smooth the pillars, and spray them either black, or body color.. not sure yet..

Ive used the Permatex Quick Epoxy B4. Its the clear one

i may try that if the cheap stuff fails lol.. i will probably rivet it to the stock pillar to start, and mold it all from there..

thanks man... gonna see about buying a pillar pod this afternoon, then hopefully be able to work on it next weekend...
what color you think i should paint those pillars? i wanna keep it kinda subtle.. you think it would look decent if i got some of that color-matched interior paint, smoothed the pillars, then sprayed em with that?

Yeah. Id do both of them so they match. Use adhesion promoter on the raw plastic and/or filler.

yeah... going to.. whatever color i choose, i am also going to repaint my door handle cups, and fuse panel back stock lol, i smoothed them because i was bored, and sprayed em with silver from walmart lol
