Ok so today I changed out my O2 sensor (only 115xxx miles on it!!!) I put a Bosch in there (i know, i know) First off it runs fine. infact if i punch it from a start, with out any timing advance, i can bark the tires (225's baby!!) I put it on a sniff tester at our school right after I did it, and got this.

At idle in closed loop the A/F ratio is something like 26:1. I got in and goosed the throttle and watched the machine, and it dropped to 14:1, so Im not worried about that. My question is this. At idle with the 26:1 and my EGR restriction, do I need to worry about burning up my pistons? Im about to take off my air pump too. Should I go back to the non-restricted egr or should I open it up some? Is the 26:1 normal at idle? I just dont wanna break anything. Im gonna run it on the sum machine either tomorrow or early next week. Just wanna get the sheets to see how everything is doing. So tell me, 26:1 ok at idle?

26:1 at idle?? Its not the EGR system , that I can most definitely say. I'd be making sure the pressure is good, fuel wise, and that I'm not seeing a voltage drop either at idle. If its under 14.2 the comp can at times having problems and also the lack of juice makes the other juice run low. This one I would be searching for the clue on cause at 26:1, WAY LEAN!

There's definitely something unhealthy going on. At idle it might lean out to about 16:1 for emissions, but it should be a lot closer to 14.7 than 26!! When you stomp it, it should richen below 14, closer to 12. I would expect serious pinging at that a/f ratio, and if it's really that lean, I would expect piston damage.

Get that beast on the ol' Sun machine and see what it has to say.
