i have herd that on the newer s-10s they have eletrical problems, i have a 2000 s-10 zr2 and my driver side tail light and lincence plate light dont work i checked both bulbs and and they were both blown out so i replaced them. and they both still dont work. i was wondering if that problem hase effected any one else. the blinker works and the brake light works as well.

The brake light and the turn signal use the same filament, the taillight is the other filament. Are you sure you are using the right (2 filament) bulb in the taillight? A friend was having a similar taillight issue with a Tahoe. He just had a couple of bad (import) bulbs and finally found one that didn't fail as soon as he installed it. However, the license plate light functions with the taillights. Perhaps there is a broken wire prior to the taillight. If you have an ohmmeter, check for voltage at the sockets. If those inop sockets don't have voltage the break could be hard to find inside the wrapped wire bundle but look for damage or something pinching the bundle. Perhaps there is a screw penetrating the bundle somewhere.

Try to find where the taillight harness plugs into the main harness, there could be a bent or corroded pin in the connector. Ifg worse cojmes to worse, the taillight harness should be replaceable without giving Chevrolet your right arm.

not to counterdict you, but multimeter or voltmeter (ohm = resistance) :)

Right you are. Thanks for correcting me. ;)
