I am going to make it functional as soon as I get a chance and figure out how I want to do it. I have a couple ideas, but I am not sure which route to take. Let me know what you think.

Real nice. Is it open on the windshield side so the air will flow real good?

Box it in to dump at the filter area. Many ways to do it if your handy with metal and or screening!!

In the second to last picture, the "screen" on the front is plastic, so I am going to make a piece of sheet metal to replace the top of that. Then I am going to cut the metal out behind that and weld in the new piece of sheet metal to make it look and function like ram air. I just need to figure out how I want to make the ducts to route the incoming air to the air filter. Then I need to make sure the hood seals to the heat shield so it will make some sort of boost above 80mph. I will get some pics of the underside of the hood so some of you could give me some more ideas. I would like to get rid of the underhood insulation so the cowl can function as a heat extractor also.

Nice looking hood. It looks like the best of both hoods, ram air and cowl induction. Who makes that hood?

What's all that white crap on the ground in the background?!?

Its a Goodmark Ram Air style hood, and thanks for the comments. I will get some pics of the underside tomorrow so I will post those as well. I liked this hood over the Cervinis hood because I liked how the SS hood looked on the 96-97 Camaro, it stayed up as it got towards the cowl and not gradually go back down to the factory height towards the cowl like the Cervinis.

Furnace duct style. There is one hood of this type, dont know whom makes it, but it uses this style duct to dump it right over the factory box area. Its about 2 inch in height and 4-6 inches wide, done in the fiberglass that the hood is made from. Its a U shape from the scoop to the factory box area.

Hood looks good.

Is the quality good? Does it line up good, no big gaps on either side? Doesn't look out of alignment does it? Bolts right on and looks nice and straight?

If it's a Goodmark it's of excellent quality. I got the Goodmark cowl hood for my '92. I was more than pleased. It bolted right up using the oem hinges and latches. Everything lined up perfectly. It took me less than a half hour to change it out.

The hood you are talking about is a GoodHood or SunCoast Customs, but they don't make a functional hood for the s-series, but they do make them for the fullsize trucks.

LeadFoot: This is my second Goodmark hood, so I am pretty happy with their quality. Since every vehicle is different, body panels will fit differently. That could be fixed with minor adjustments. If they weren't of high quality then GM wouldn't license them for reproduction parts for older vehicles like the Chevelle, Camaro, etc... The only thing I had to adjust was the side to side gap which required me to push sideways, down by the hinges on the hood to get it centered.

wow, that looks great!! i was leaning towards a cervini or a goodmark cowl hood mostly because i had yet to see any good pics of how that one looked, and i am sold on that hood, it looks great... much like the SS camaros, great hood can't wait to see it painted!!!

Are you going to cut out the screen in the cowl opening? You would think that the hot air would flow out much easier with that screen gone.

Mike 92S10
01-30-05, 09:53 PM
It probably would flow a little more air. But I really like the looks from inside the truck looking at back of the cowl. I painted the underside black and the contrast looks pretty neat.

LilYellowZQ8

It pulls the heat out with the screen in place, plus it will keep those pesky rodents and leaves out.

Here a few pics of the slow progress. It looks better than that piece of crap plastic piece. Lemme know what you guys and gals think of it so far.

Man that looks great!
I have a C/F bowtie sticker if you want it for the front.
Have you looked into Silverstar Blue/Amber bulbs for your clear corners?
They are $20 @ autozone and really set the front off.

Well it's my first post on here so i will try to help in any way i can :)
Form the pic's it looks like you can do the same thing i am working on now.
First you would have to cut out some of the cross member for the cowl to work right then you make a "pan" for it to seal right.
I have moved my MAF to the top of my TBI and i get no errors at all.
If you do this and make a "pan" with a seal to match up to the hood and just put a air filter on top of that so that the air filter will set in the cowl and on top of the pan it will give you a HP gain at around 30-35 MPH.
also if you make the ram air work with a screen it will give you the best of both worlds.
