I'm not going to lie this truck is not the best for useing, more for collectors. It does need a little work but it shouldn't be anything you can't do yourself. valve cover gasket and the intake manifold gasket are going, but I have both new gaskets just no time to put them in. The transmission is leaking a little but it's an easy fix. I don't remember what they told me it was that was leaking on the tranny, but I do know it's only a seal. Something has gone wrong woth the electricals under the dash. The lights and gauges work for the most part, exept when I turn on the radio. They all go not all the way down but slightly so they are not very accurate. If I tap under the steering wheel sometimes they will all go back but not all the time. 120K Miles and I put in a new radiator. I did put in a used tranny a while back but it's already starting to flar a little but not a lot. $250 worth of new speakers. 98% rust free and the car was in southern states for almost all of its life. Been in the family all its life so I know there was no accidents. I hate to see this Truck go, it's been my baby for a while now, but I need a newer car. Well either a carbed 2.8 or a carbed 2.5

Nah, an '85 would have the TBI 2.5L... Not the carbed version. Having had a base-model truck of that year I venture to say I know. And that gauge problem, I've had the same deal with my '85. It's just a matter of tightening the cluster retention nuts.

For some reason I thought they got TBI in 86, ah well. Everyone's entitled to be wrong once in a while.

Almost everything did in '86. And short of the Chevette & the 454 & Olds 307, everything did in '87. By '89 only the Olds 307 had a carb, all the way through to the end of '90. But by then, there were no carbed engines at GM, other than that one.
