I have a 1992 4.3 CPI w/700R4. I know it has a 40 tooth reluctor ring VSS. The signal from that goes to the DRAC and then the computer. My question is, is the computer just getting a 40 pulse per rev. signal or is the DRAC changing it to a more common signal (2000 pulse per mile square wave, or 4000 pulse per mile sine wave) ?

Thanks

the DRAC receives the 40 plus signal and then outputs the needed signals to various components, cruise, ABS, speedo etc

Yeah I know the Drac splits the signal, but what kind of signal is DRAC sending to the ECU.

Does anyone have the wiring schematic for a 1992 CPI, in particular the VSS from the sensor to the DRAC and from the DRAC to the ECU. I have a Chilton but it doesn't show the DRAC.

the signal in pluses per revloution sent to the ECU depends on the Gear ratio and tire size the DRAC corrects for these factors. This web site will tell you more about how to calbrate a DRAC to different tire size and gear ratio's. It also should give you then signal info that you are looking for

Got it thanks, and DRAC has been modified for 4.88s & 36"s (113" Circ). If someone has the wiring I am set. Thanks 1993blazerlt for the intake and your help.

I think I solved it. The wiring schematic I had was wrong (Chilton). It is probably a type O. Any way I just have to switch 2 wires at the DRAC. Turnes out my ECU was recieving the cruise signal. I didn't really notice it in the driving, but the referee saw it on his scanner (OBD I, reading VSS?), I had no codes and none stored.
